That price is USD. The Japan online store is especially cheap (it being the middle of winter there possibly). 990 yen - just over NZD $11. Domestic shipping only through (I have a forwarding service I use) http://www.uniqlo.com/jp/store/feature/uq/airism/men/

Their Aussie store is at $15 AUD http://www.uniqlo.com/au/store/men/collections/airism.html

On a related note, their Heattech ones are fantastically warm for winter - I prefer them to merino now

Yep, my "functional undies" drawer is 90 Uniqlo, Airism for summer, heattech for winter. They are cheap as too.

It's a classic, up there with sugar free gummy bears and the plutonium reviews.

I got some plumbing work done today and the plumber couldn't locate my water toby. No, I'd never heard of it either.

The bloke who came around from the council and found it for us explained that the toby is the valve (what I would have called the stopcock) that is on the boundary by the road, and Irish tinkers used to call the road "the toby" in their secret language, so the valve took on that name. Pretty good etymological knowledge for a 20-something Maori guy from Hastings I thought, so him and his mate got a half-dozen for their troubles.

How old are you? I'm more surprised someone doesn't know what or where the toby is.

I've had a few run ins with leaking toby's, lots of fun working out where the council 'responsibility' ends and the householder picks up. Interesting to hear where the name came from though

It's handy to know where it is if you ever have a pipe burst and civil defence reckon you should know where it is in a natural disaster .

I had just never heard it called that before. Certainly never heard it in the UK when I lived there.

As for where it is, the council had no idea either, it wasn't where their book said it was. It took 3 guys 3 hours to find it, a good 2 metres inside the front boundary and 4 metres from the side, and 700mm down. However they also found one just inside my property that doesn't control my supply or anybody else's they could tell.

What...no Toby cover or anything? I can't say I've ever heard it mentioned over here and would assume it doesn't exist. I think I've only ever found "the mains" once or twice over here. Not where I'd expect a Toby...

We found the mains one day with a digger and it sprayed a fountain of mud and gravel and crap all over the clients car while she was inside the house. She was an awful old shitwitch who whined about tiny little issues real or in her crazed mind but she got in her car without saying a word and drove off with a car that looked it had been driven through a mudslide. I think the digger driver weed a little bit when she came out the door.
