No doubt since the beginning of pop/rock music a large portion of groupies and fans tend to be young teenage girls. Be easy for a someone to take advantage of that.
You only have to watch ‘Almost Famous’ to see how bands traded and used these girls.

Sure, but the selective punishments is what is interesting

Why does Cliff Richard get his house raided and Jimmy Page doesn't? Cliff wasn't found guilty and there's a lot more evidence on Page's ongoing sexual abuse of a 14 year old

Marvin Gaye had a child with a 15 year old, Elvis had a relationship with an underage Priscilla Presley, Jerry Lewis married a 13 year old. There are lots of them who have escaped with little outrage. I guess these are forgotten now, in the current environment anyone who is exposed will be villified

Elvis story is even weirder, he wouldn’t have sex with her so she ended up rooting her karate instructor.

He stopped having sex with her after she gave birth.

Fark that, it's a slippery slope. I think people need to get over themselves; assholes can create great things. Feel free to ignore songs yourself, but leave others to make their own decisions.

Think it comes down to perception
A rock star ‘entertains’ a willing young teenager who’s infatuated with him vs a man who who invites young boys into his life and takes them into his bed. He does that via manipulation and grooming them
The average person might think those girls were either asking for it or happy to go along with it compared to someone who comes across as more as a predator.
Both instances are wrong of course, no doubt over the years there’s been plenty of young girls used and spat out when these guys have finished with them.

Hookers should be like bourbon, 20 years old and mixed up with coke

SO, drug use is OK? I mean, now we're judging some crimes as worthy of being banned, while letting others slide? I dunno, as I said, it's a slippery slope.

How about all the wannabe gangsters (or the actual gangsters). Guns, crime, robbery ... let alone what the farking labels get up to with their evil contracts.

Jacko's interesting too. He's someone that you can point to the crazy upbringing and say it probably had a substantial effect on who he was. I was going to say 'as a person', but he was more alien than human at times.

Finally, what happens to legacy if the offending takes place after the creative endeavour? Someone derails after getting success due to being a musical genius ... is the music 'ok' or 'not ok as you turned into someone we don't like'.

My thoughts are all over the place, but I reckon it's pretty farked
