    Jordie Barrett

    Charge-downs galore with the giraffe wind-up.

    Or not.

    Can play the take forward game his brother plays and if under pressure ship to Crotty to kick or Crotty and Goodhue to truck.

    Also bring the blindside winger on a run / dummy run and that will keep the opposition backrow and 10 honest.

    Already has proven Test experience.

    No brainer really.

    Marty Banks is a lot more likely than some of the people in this poll.

    Damn, missed one out. Sorry! Is a moderator able to add Marty Banks?

    I think I'd rather try Ben Smith there.

    @Crucial

    I rather keep Ben Smith at fullback. He is outstanding in that position.

    He could be outstanding in another position in that case.

    Unlike the pimply giraffe who has yet to be outstanding.

    First fives need to be able to get a quick kick away when backed on their goal line, while the opposition fly at them. That's really non-negotiable.

    As much as I think Crotty is an option, he left the Crusaders in the lurch recently with his inability to do that. And he's faster than Jordie with the boot.

    Definitive answer is Otere Black because Mrs Boo.

    Just mentioned to Mrs Boo some bloke ( @sparky ) set up this poll. And before I had a chance to read out the list she said "Otere Black". Good enough for me.

    I'm just impressed she knows enough Super Rugby that Otere Black exists ... 🙂

    She's a better bloke than me

    Are some of the options above really any worse than Dmac? He was absolute crap at 1st five for the Chiefs this year.

    I get he'd had international game time there but watching him this year, as funny as it was, sends shivers down ya spine.

    He's never seemed to go well at 10 for the Chiefs, but he did play well there for the ABs - French 3rd test (yeah it was only the French) he was superb and I think he's had a couple of other decent performances. Agree though in a big test him or any of the others would fill me with dread.

    Jordie is the my choice. You can joke about the charge downs but at the end of the day he has the quality and skills to fit in and do a decent job rather than hinder the players around him. He made a decent fist of his chances in black so far. And that us about all you can ask for if you get to the third stringer

    @mariner4life

    Given that we’ve never had any trouble playing people out of position, what could be the problem?

    I don't think the charge downs would be a joke - they'd be the number one thing I would target.

    There's a reason most first fives are nippy little guys whose feet are close to their hands - because those extra hundredths of seconds it takes someone with long levers like Jordie - who is 20cm taller than people like DC and Mo'unga - to catch, drop and kick the ball are critical. And it's in the bio-mechanics of everything they do - they've got more power, but they take more time.

    You guys are going to be kissing the boots of us Canes supporters when Jordie is awarded MOTM in the WC final.
