Love & Mercy. Biopic of Brian Wilson with Paul Dano playing him in his 20s and John Cusack in his 40s. The story is how he became mentally ill when he was making Pet Sounds and fell under the control of his psychiatrist played by Paul Giamatti with implausibly shaggy hair. The lovely Elizabeth Banks plays the love interest. A heartbreaking and at times worrying story with absolutely top notch acting.

Sharknado. The most batshit crazy film I've ever seen. You have to admire how they ignore all logic, science, nature, human dialogue, continuity etc.

Are you talking about Sharknado 1, 2 or 3, hang on, I guess they wont have changed a successful formula now will they from 1 - 3....

Will check it out! Sounds great.

Been introducing Mrs gt12 to NZ movies - whale rider, darkhorse (which was epic), once were Warriors, and boy. Anything big I've missed?

Most of the real good ones have been taken but - Quiet Earth, Scarfies, Housebound, The Navigator, Stickman, Sione's Wedding. No.2 if you want something slightly different.

If we're including American/NZ movies then add Battletruck to the list. For a homegrown NZ action film there was one with Temuera Morrison called Never Say Die.

Also Sleeping Dogs.

I love the quote from mr Gormsby "the piano a film about a deaf mute that begins with a VoiceOver from her".

That had John Ratzenberger [Cliff Clavin ] in it .

If mrs GT12 didn't do 6th form english here theres a good chance she never saw Vigil so you could add that to the list. Bad blood and Out of the blue would a fairly depressing but decent pair of films to watch too.
