    Delighted to learn that Guzzler will be available for the World Cup. 😀

    Take a bow the doctor who put his shoulder back in.

    Nothing wrong with the clearout. It is a big boys' game.

    @sparky Best possible prognosis but it doesn't mean it's a given that he will be fit. Still really positive news.

    To fill BBBRs shoes...I vote for the man himself.

    Reading that headline in Stuff was a great start to the day.

    @Bones it’s not club footy bro 😉

    Surely if you’re in the squad, you can play when ever the coaches decide pick you...

    Well I dunno, I can't find the tournament rules anywhere.

    It’ll be Barrett to start alongside Whitelock, unless of course they want to use Barrett at 6, (which I’m a fan of), in which case it should be Hemopo.

    I think BBBR's injury potentially puts paid to that experiment.

    I guess they'll play it by ear as even if the prognosis is good, that's still no guarantee he is going to fit for the first game.

    @Frank

    quick look online says you could start some weights as early as 6 weeks after dislocation depending on severity.

    if he is available for the tournament then it may be best to leave him out of pool play to give him the chance of a proper conditioning window to get him right for top level rugby.

    But now we have to put pat t instead, and he's a long way off the top three and not a great injection off the bench. Maybe hemopo instead, at least he's dynamic

    I'm actually not too worried (less so now BBBR has a good chance to make RWC2019)

    There's been plenty of occasions where reserves or dirt-trackers have stepped up and played out of their skin when a key player is injured. We saw it recently with Ardie when SC was injured.

    DMac and BBBR are big losses for us at this cup. If we win from here, it's a 'thank god' moment, not an 'expected that' moment. Feels like the tales of 1991 (I wasn't following rugby at that stage in my life)

    Agree with the bolded part but I haven't given up hope BBBR will be available just yet. If the prognosis is he can be available for the playoff stages I'd still pick him, and select an extra lock to cover. It would be worth the risk given how important he is.

    I don't get the comparison to 1991, and you are not the only person to mention this. 2015 was more like 1991 in that many veterans (centurions) were holding on for another RWC cycle. Outside of Franks, Read and SBW you can't say it's the same. Perhaps more like 1999 where there was a desire to have the best players on the park irrespective of their best current position.

    I hadn't thought of a 91 comparison, but I guess if there is one it would be having dominated for a long time we came back to the pack and started to look very ordinary against teams we were expected to smash and struggled against the other contender(s)

    Fortunately we aren't about to sack the captain and saddle our coach with the most divisive figure in modern AB history

    Gutted about BBBR. Our most "irreplaceable" player for a good while.

    @DaGrubster Agreed, but honestly if we can't beat Scotland without BBBR, then we really don't deserve to win the Cup. The problem with picking BBBR and not playing him till the playoffs is the workload that Whitelock and Barrett will now have to carry. It really is a blow as it just doesn't effect lock selection, but potentially Barrett's move to blindside as well.

    Which goes without saying given we won’t be contesting for it...

    I think if there is any doubt hovering over Retallick, it bodes well for Patrick T’s chances of making the final cut.
