Sydney’s Daily Telegraph (often dubbed the Trollagraph) has a feature today headlined ‘The Old Blacks’) in which they photoshop SBW, Kieran Read and Sam Whitelock as old men well past their use-by date as players.

The original is behind a paywall, but the NZ Herald picks it up here:

They may have a point, but you’d have to argue this is tailor-made material to stick up on the dressing room wall on Saturday.

@MrDenmore It's an app and they're a bit behind the times. Everyone started posting this kind of pics about a month ago, mostly mocking themselves. Nothing worth your time.

Great team talk. Slap that shite on the changing room wall before the Bled in bloody large print (their poor old eyes can't see that well) and watch the old fullas go.

I see where they are coming from regarding Read and SBW, but Whitelock? Anyone think he is on the decline? I haven't given him much thought.

@Crazy-Horse I don't see that either. Ben Smith or Owen Franks would have made more sense.

As that app is about a month old, I don't see this mocking in the media working as motivation either. They'll just shrug their shoulders. They've already seen these pics before when the app was just released. Nobody should care what the Aussie media say, anyway. They're even worse than ours.

It doesn’t really matter who the article named, it’s the narrative. Plus the author probably thinks there is nothing to lose in writing this kind of piece. Big OZ win and ABs made to look ordinary. Even if the ABs won this weekend the fallback line will be ‘AB experience too good, but doubts remain over whether they can do it over a gruelling RWC campaign’

Further proof that Sam is the only hirsute Whitelock brother. 🤣

The three Old Blacks were superb tonight. Great response to the Daily Trollagraph's garbage. There is life in the old dogs yet.

    As a certified Old-Bugger, I'll lift a Jamieson's to that.
