@jegga fark that is plain dumb. I mean I know they are trying to play a lot of this down, but they'll get roasted even further by trying to blinker the investigation. At this stage trying to keep their internal processes review hidden is just not going to fly. Even though the president has resigned that doesn't mean all that stuff just goes away.
Just a group of incompetent venal people trying to bluff their way through this .
Not sure if you read the Guardian story but Mau saw the guy being a creep and mentioned it to a senior female mp and she said “ oh that’s just ( insert name here) “ like it was somehow acceptable bevcause of who he was .
So is Mau not making excuses for Labour anymore?
Still pulling her punches a little bit but writing an article for the Guardian and giving Labour’s rape culture more overseas attention is going to make for awkward conversation next time her and Jacko catch up

Not defending Cindy for a second but
Morrison, Turnbull, Abbott, Rudd, Gillard - not really the lucky country eh?Ah yes, poor Australia with two Rhodes Scholars in those five. No particular fan of Gillard but I'd be curious how Ardern so clearly outshines her?
Morrison is more on Ardern's level in terms of style over substance, but he clearly has better political command.

I would imagine that is a big step for her. Any word spoken against the party by one of their big fangirls is notable

@rotated It's not simply the quality of the premiers it's the revolving door policy, the back-stabbing and the too often buffoonery. Who did Gillard get rolled by?
Way to move the goalposts! It is exactly about the quality of the premiers. That was exactly what we were talking about

Latest Spinoff article about Labour ignores the fact Labour has a "face doesn't fit" clause in their employees contracts and they can fire them with a months pay so this creep could have been fired without the backlash of a lawsuit. I guess he was just too valuable to the party and teenage volunteers are a dime a dozen.

Interesting point about Ardern in opposition . Also worth remembering she couldn't win a traditionally labour seat and had to be gifted a safe seat from labour.
@dogmeat that avatar throws me every time I see it. -

Actual job experience in the private sector. One night a week at a fish and chip shop.

Suffering through all of this, and we could have had Prime Minister Bill English instead. I'm a massive fan of what that bloke did as finance minister -- turned the public sector upside down, drove a massive re-think about how to spend money effectively, and managed us through some stormy weather very capably. All that, and got home almost every night to spend time with his family.
Didn't appear inspiring as a leader if you looked superficially, but had real depth and talent as soon as you scratched the surface.
Instead I watch this ongoing incompetence from afar. Helen Clarke would have torn some heads off by now, put the NZ Labour Council in its place, and probably emasculated the offender (who wouldn't have got a job in her office in the first place to be fair).

I know a couple of people who voted for NZ first because they thought National had got a bit arrogant and thought Winston would keep them honest. Putting aside the fact Winston can't keep himself honest thats a very risky thing to think and obviously it backfired badly for those who voted that way.
Bill English doesn't have the x factor that Key had but I always thought he and Joyce were the brains behind national in that era .
Look at what we have now .
This latest scandal hasn't fizzled out in fice days , if anything its heated up. This never would have happened on Clarks watch, I disgreed with her politics but she'll be remembered as one of our great pms. Ardern is down there with non entities like Rowling and Palmer , accidental pms .

I looked up what Willie Jackson said about roastbusters, apparently getting underage girls and gang raping them is "mischief".

I genuinely believe Bill, with his economic acumen and highly developed social conscience, really wanted to and could have done great things. Opportunity lost NZ

Hats off to the kid for standing up to the rapist when he was harassing women at the xmas party . If only the rest of the labour party took sexual assault so seriously.

In the #meetoo age this is a cardinal sin. The morality of voters on the left will be massively challenged by this saga

Talk about missing the point. Leave the investigation of the allegations to the police. Anything less than a frank assessment of their failings in dealing with this mess makes them look guilty.
Is it a matter of time before the cops step in?
