KNowing we must play this match, I think it might be better for Wales to beat SA tonight, that way, we dont face the prospect of losing to Wales for the first time in forever...but I wanted SA to win (if we didnt) from the outset....

It's another opportunity to fill a stadium is the only reason I can think of.
Can't be for TV revenue. Do you reckon broadcasters would pay less for the rights if thus game wasn't there?

I can't believe news reports that suggest people are selling tickets for the 'kissing your sister' playoff for up to 15k. It's a bloody dead rubber between two teams that would really like to be on the plane home already

I think the last one I watched was in 1991. I'll see who is selected first but will probably pass on watching live.

In 1999 and 2007 I was so pissed off that I didn't watch any games after the ABs were knocked out. Not inclined to that this time.
This has been a fantastic tournament, even if the champions will not be the team I hoped for.
I don't like the concept of a 3rd/4th but I'd be mighty pissed off to see the ABs lose the 100th test against the Old Foe or lose against Wales for the first time since 1953. The game will matter either way.
I've no strong feelings on who I like or dislike to win the tournament from here. Three traditionally strong Rugby nations, all well coached at the moment with some great fans and a few prats. Genuinely neutral.

Me too. With slightly feigned enthusiasm, and possibly a little delayed so I can fast forward HT and some of the kicks, but I'll be there.

My guess is it’s mainly to sell to the high price tour groups from The SF or QF on.
Two years out from the tournament the idea of “well as long as they make the SF we will see them twice” makes sense.
