Quite a bit of talk about the 16 year old Naseem Shah playing for Pakistan. Read someone likening his action to Dennis Lillee's and that's pretty right I think - though he's shorter than Dennis. Getting impressive carry, though!

Edit - seems you have to watch the video on Youtube - mainly Naseem bowlng to Marcus Harris and giving him plenty of problems.

What's a Pakistani 16 year old in human years? 7-1 is a dog right? So Pakistani cricketer is like 1.3-1??

yeah boy. Even old Chimo wouldn't be turning that down

Pakistan ignore the annual press pressure to get sucked in by a "green" gabba pitch, and make the right call to bat first.

About 10 minutes until I head down from my desk to see the opening couple of overs. The quickest way to find which TV in our building is showing it: locate the TV surrounded by the subcontinental employees "working" on their laptops.

Pakistan started this game at $8 H2H, which I think is massive overs.

Clearly the Gabba is very difficult for visiting sides, but this Aussie team is still pretty fragile and if the Pakis can put 350 on the board first up then we might find it difficult.

@barbarian I see Pakistan is giving the 16 year old a run - as well as a 19 year old reminiscent of Joel Garner.

    Should be fun watching!

Pakistan batting quite sensibly. Deck looks like it will get very flat very soon so we could go 5 days.

I appear to be attending the most turgid opening session in Australian test cricket in recent memory.

    Time to hit the beers.

    You're stuck in Brisbane.
    With Queenslanders everywhere.

You should be on the beers already

    Bang. 75/0 becomes 94/5

@Smudge has something to watch while drinking mid-strength beer and being watched by 25,000 security guards in case some fun accidentally breaks out

@mariner4life My earlier glance at the Pakistan bowlers suggested they're a throwback to the 1970s, when any runs were a bonus.

If that kid really is 16 he's got balls of steel.

Cummins and Starc steaming in. Starc bowls one at 146 kmh - next ball he punches him down the ground for four.

Nine down with six overs to play - Pakistan should've declared and taken three or four overs against Davey and Joe.

I remember as a 15yo doing stunts on a motorbike I would never have contemplated in my 30s.

Some cracking deliveries to finish the innings. But a fair bit of fight in the Pakistan top and tail. If their middle order showed some patience, they'd be 4 down for 250 tonight and looking at 400.

@NTA Yeah - actually at 16, I would have been stupid enough to want to face Starc. 🙂

He'd be a Pakistani '16 year old'. So, about 18 or maybe 19 with a fudge age for age grade purposes

    @Rapido More than likely.

Have you watched that video I posted above of him bowling? Classical action. I'm going to watch tomorrow to see how he goes.

Davey Warner happy to back on the flat flat decks of home

Very definition of the flat track bully. His average in Aus compared to his average in India and England is like 1st class Graeme Hick compared to test Graeme Hick
