@Donsteppa that's the angle i have never understood.

Surely if money was the ultimate driver, then there is waaaay more money in burying vaccines and treating people who end up with really bad diseases over an extended period of time?

It's not logical. These people defy logic. The only hope is that the sky fairy takes as many of them quickly to avoid affecting the rest of us!

@mariner4life Yeah, most vaccines make fuck all money, and can be more of a way to keep on the good sides of governments than a profit centre.

The podcast The Dream is about multi level marketing , aka pyramid schemes , this season is about supplements . The industry spends a fortune lobbying to keep the FDA away from their products and don't really use any sort of testing the way pharmaceutical companies do. Their so called natural health supplements like St Johns Wort can interfere with prescription medications and make warfarin and the birth control pill ineffective. Apparently 30-40 % of liver shutdowns are due to supplements .

Also Monster energy drink calls itself a supplement to avoid scrutiny.

There was a company in oz that sold online tooth whitening. You sign up and every month they send you a whitening kit. Even though we usually only recommend whitening once a year or so. The new one is online orthodontic treatment, a cheapo Invisalign. I don't know what happens when you finish the course and it hasn't worked or even made you worse. If I was more mercenary I should set up a shell company with Mrs CF as director and do something similar. It is crazy

It would not hold up as appropriate treatment. And the old 'I did it because Mr Smith wanted me to' defence is not going to do it

Mrs Steppa gets very angry with the TV when that cheapo version of Invisalign advert appears. She works at an orthodontic practice, and appears to think the online versions chances of success are similar to mine of making the All Blacks squad this year...

I've got a mate who's an orthodontist and he's of the feeling that Invisalign need some competition in the closed dental markets so he's not instantly against them and he's heard from colleagues in the US that it's fairly effective if done correctly.

The reaction seems to be less to the competition aspect, and more to the almost DIY way it’s being advertised as. Similar to @canefan‘s comment about what happens if it doesn’t work or makes things worse.

This is awesome and embarrassing in comparison for NZ . Rwanda has a 98% vaccination rate and in future its cervical cancer rates are probably going to be the lowest in the world.

Which is weird because some utter tool that used to post here whos name escapes me posted that gardisal doesn't prevent cervical cancer. No one said it did, it prevents hpv which can lead to cervical and throat cancer.

@jegga lack of internet probably helps, no way for mis-information to get out there, Medical teams just travelling all round and vaccinating people.

I expect people in a place like that are greatful of any medical treatment?
