There's some strange behaviour manifesting in this nz cricket team and it's got nothing to do with their individual cricket skills.

There's a mindset and assertiveness problem with this team since the world cup.

    ".

This team is so meek and apparently confused. From player selections, to batting orders, to monumental batting collapses, to sub standard fielding, to the fact that we've been soundly done over in our last 8 fricken games, ( get fucked, losing the Hamilton game was every bit as useless as the Sydney game).

This is a hell of a fall in performance- win loss record runs secondary to the manner of the losses- we've retarded our progress astonishingly.

This team is not in good health

It's not obvious where the problem is but the decision making and leadership personnel needs a serious look. There is enough cricket skill to suggest that we haven't suddenly exposed some foundational weaknesses in the system but there's a whole heap of adequately skilled international cricketers playing as badly as you could imagine, given their calibre and recent results.

    28 for 3

@Siam as they say, its easier to change the coach than change the players. When does Stead's contract run out? I wouldn't expect NZC to be proactive enough to seriously consider firing him

@canefan yep, but if you're fair dinkum you gotta look equally at Kane and Gav and others.

Dare it be said but we're missing a Baz swagger, or at least a "spin it wide" mentality. The Aussies will prosper with Steve Smith just batting, I wish we could afford Kane the same luxury. But we can't.

@Siam I don't think Kane is aggressive by nature. Maybe he's a better batsman than captain. It doesnt appear that Stead is offering good guidance because he was seemingly better when Hesson was still there

If we get home in this chase I'll somehow rig NZC future draws so that all home games are played at Bay Oval.

I might just try that regardless.......

Here's a great example of flawed cricket thinking, to even a club amateur:

You want Rossco to face as many balls as possible. There's just no way around it. If he faces the most balls, we win, ( pretty much). Ok, let's not expose him to a new ball, given our glorious opening partnership habits, so don't bat him in the top 3.

But all that means, is he's 4 and that's concrete. No cute little " left hand right hand combo", no "let's try slinky up there because he hits the best golf ball in the team", no FUCKEN putting Tom fucking Bruce, still wearing international cricket nappies, in before the most game playing legend we've got and have ever had!

You see it's this departure, and it's frequency from fundamental cricket notions that's got me very bothered at the moment

It's never a good cricket decision to have Bruce above Ross, never. Any team, anywhere.

Scary that these type of calls are obviously winning out in the meetings

34 from the over, big big moment in the game. Kinda puts us in pole position...

Our mind state right now is so fragile, if Ross gets out we will probably succumb

@Gunner I think that's the most dramatic shift I've seen in a game. Fuck, what a 34 over does for a team! Tap it round for 10 overs to win😉

Rossco has to be there at the end now, if he is, we win.

Mitchell's average is nothing. No wonder we fold like flimsy deck chair once the core batsmen are out

@Siam To be fair to Stead, that decision was actually made Hesson because Taylor takes to much time to get in when batting at four.

A couple of wickets and bugger all runs in the last couple of overs and we’re making it look farking tough again.

Don't know who's idea it was to select Mitchell, but a tail that starts at 6 is not ideal in t20.

Where's Neesh? You can't convince me that he can do any worse than someone like Mitchell

Too busy scoring big runs and taking plenty of wickets for the Firebirds.
