@RoninWC hey just had a Garage Project/Balter collab Dryhaze. Was very nice. Limited run and not sure where you’d get it in Sydney but if you can suss some out it’s worth it.

    Thanks @raznomore
I had seen that recently pop up on my FB feed. Now to hunt it down.

Apparently this is one of those collaborations where two brews are created, one brewed at one location and the other brewed at the second location.

BTW, since you are living in Aus and if you are on Facebook, you may want to check out the "We Love Craft Beer (Australia)" Facebook group.

One of the better FB groups out there.

Annoyingly, due to a recent health issue that sprang up in September last year and a recent cancer scare including a positive generic cancer marker from one of the blood tests - which was finally cleared last week after so many tests - the specialist has me on a regime to improve my health and fitness and to lose some weight so I'm off beer altogether until mid Feb. Other forms of alcohol are to be very limited until then.

But if I can find it now, I'll put it in the fridge until I can drink it in mid Feb.

@RoninWC that sounds bloody scary mate but great you've been given the all-clear.

I don't actually drink a lot. I like to try new beers and defo have favourites but I honestly only drink may once or twice a month. I wanted to get rid of the gut and my love of NZ beers is expensive here in OZ.

Thanks @raznomore it's appreciated. It has been really scary, especially getting what turned out to be a false positive from a generic cancer marker just before Xmas. I made the decision not to tell the wife or family at the time so to avoid putting a downer on the holidays.

Wish I had your discipline, I was drinking way too much beer but i love these good craft beers and yeah, for the first time in my life I'm over 100 kgs (and I'm 180 cm) as I've not been able to exercise as I've been going through this health issue.

I did find, according to my bank statement, that I was spending in excess of $100 a week (which is really only the equivalent of about 9-12 beers because most of the crafties I enjoy are $8-10 plus a can) on craft beers from the local specialist bottlo. On top of that, I was a frequent visitor to the Rag and Famish hotel which is very close by to our apartment.

At least this health issue has meant I've cut back on beer and all other forms of alcohol, for the most part.

Post this health issue, both my wife and the specialist want me to cut back on drinking, beer especially. So from now on, I'll have to be more selective and restrained and really just go for the special ones like you pointed out above, that Garage Project/Balter collaboration.

Looking for some recommendations in terms of craft beer.

As I detailed in the Fitness - Intermittent and Longer Fasting thread, next week, I arrive in NZ on Thursday afternoon with my son, 18 year old, for a boys weekend fishing in Coromandel with my cuzzies.

Friday morning and early afternoon will be spent in the Auckland CBD.

As things stand, we plan on having lunch at the The Brewers Co-Operative - NZ Craft Beer and Fish and Chips.

Later, we will then catch up with two cousins and head to the airport to pick up the third cousin who arrives from Wellington around 2 pm and start on our way to Kuaotunu, Coromandel.

The plan is, to make a any number of stops as necessary to take in the local sights meaning local craft brews.

So, looking for craft beer, artisan Gin, good food and any other recommendations for Auckland CBD and then for the journey from Auckland to Coromandel.

Some planned stops are Coromandel Oyster company and the smoke house but looking for other recommendations from the distinguished palates here on the Fern.

    Cheers

Good George at North wharf https://www.goodgeorgenorthwharf.co.nz/ if you want to go a bit upmarket
or The Beer Spot in Sandringham (596 New North Rd Kingsland). I haven't been to that one but the original in Northcote has 40 revolving (all guest) beers on tap and is good for a quick overview of the beer scene. Here' s Sandringham's current Tap Menu https://thebeerspot.trkl.co/taps/pdf/morningside/download?action=preview
They also have a French hotdog food truck this week https://www.facebook.com/miammiamsausage/

pub i was at on Saturday had Panhead XPA on tap so i deleted a few of those. Not bad, pretty tasty, and very refreshing served ice cold. But not really sessionable, after a few i started feeling really full, and had to switch to something a bit lighter.

I haven't read all 1200 posts but if it hadn't been mentioned prior, Craft Embassy in Chch is quite good. Service can be patchy but great range of beers. I got hooned on a coconut porter.

@canefan looks like an Aussie pub, and that can might say Emu Export. The bird with the camera is most definitely an ocker. But the bird ON camera is a Yank.

If there's a brewery that does better beer than Panhead Supercharger and Rat Rod ( APA and Hazy IPA respectively ) then I certainly haven't heard of them. The latter is completely sold out which is niggly.

Just trying 'Heels to Jesus' a Garage Project wild brew marrying Belgian yeasts with kiwi hops.

This is the type of 'craft beer' that justifies it's price easily. A well made experiment that doesn't try to be too crazy and doesn't slam you with alcohol.
My best description would be a hazy belgian pale ale with a nice balance of sour and bitter.
This is the type of brew that Wild Beer Company in Somerset come up with all the time and goes well with food.

It was $6 a 330ml bottle but in comparison to the raft of "Just another fucking IPA"s that want similar you don't feel like you have paid way more than has been put in.

    @Crucial just to confirm, that's $6 a stubbie?

    $36 a six-pack?

    $144 a carton?

Do you get a blowjob when you buy it?
