Why isn't there a comp for blokes that run the 100m in 17 seconds? I'd love to gas someone on the outside just once in my life...

Easy. Just have to convert a few of the endless procession of "I'm a flanker" arrivals into getting stuck into the tight five 🙂

About 5 guys I used to play rugby with are in the Waikato competition and love it - all late 30s to early 40s. I think it' s a brilliant idea and I'd be way up for it if I were at home.

12 Stone Bullies was a thing back when I was playing club footy. Early 90s.

I'd never have made under 85kg.

(I think I arrived in Akl 89kg dripping wet.

Busted my arse to put on weight from about 19yo to 22yo and got to 96kg.

Seems it's now impossible to lose weight... 96kg is so far away in the rear view ...)

But we had a couple of blokes at Eden who graduated from Bullies to Seniors (winger and half back). Were pretty handy.

I think it's a good initiative to encourage weight restricted grade for guys who are going to struggle against the 120kg blokes.

Was a quick, fun brand of rugby IIRC. Not that I could ever qualify, or keep up ...

@gt12 yeah I played it in my last season in NZ. It's great and much tougher than you'd think eh. What really sucks is making a break and being mowed down by props.

this grade is mental. As a larger fulla I played a few games and holy shit the pace and intensity was crazy. Full of guys 5-10kg away from being genuine prems players. Not quite full blown small man syndrome but...

I think this is great though - it'll be really interesting watching high level code where most players are a similar body shape/size.

That's pretty bloody quick for old blokes rugby.

@antipodean yeah, you're right, I'm kidding myself - anything under 20 seconds and I'm probably looking at a snapped hammy 😭

I reffed a lot of those games in Hamilton. Really fast skillful games. Generally played in great spirit too. My favorite grade to ref - or perhaps equal with first XV.
