That photo was taken almost a year ago to the day. I saw no photo there.

So sad, first time since 1916 in Tinui in little old Wairarapa, no gather together service. Still, stand at dawn, We Will Remember Them.

RIP Stretch, Tony, Andy, Steady, Moses, Sam, Nige, Tim, and the guys they were flying with.

I have been doing poems with a couple of friends via text during lockdown. Something I have never done before. Some are good, some aren't.

I feel as though I have plaigiarised this one but I did write it this morning.

On this morning we stand together
For they are in our hearts forever
    We have our own kingdoms
Because of their sacrifice for freedom
For that we will always remember

    Lest We Forget.

Really nice. Our whole little close came and stood on the end of their driveways, and we had the national service playing on a speaker

It was nice to see a few people in my neighbourhood standing at their gates at dawn as I walked past. Plenty of poppies on display in windows, on front lawns, letterboxes and on driveways.

@Bovidae Yep lots of people standing at the start of their driveways down our street. Candles, messages in chalk on the ground. I just stood listening to a service on the wireless.

Neighbours are RAAF - there are a few in our street.

I didn't get up until about 7 to go for a run. Lot of time to think about things (besides "don't collapse"). It'll be memorable.

We could hear someone playing bagpipes at dawn, from the community posts they were about 3km away, quite eerie with light mist and the sound cutting through.

Are you out tutukaka way? The player has been practising for ages, often hear him/her in the arvo. Was playing from 0530 this morning, sounds pretty cool and mournful.

Playing the bagpipes is a sure way to ensure social distancing.
