Coronavirus - New Zealand

@No-Quarter I guess you could make an argument that CV weakened her...??
But yeah seems a stretch to include her when she has supposedly recovered from it and been tested as no longer having it...
Given we had 12 people recover overnight, it is entirely possible we could have 0 active cases tomorrow, although more likely by the end of the long weekend (assuming no new cases emrge over the weekend)...once new cases and active are at zero, there surely has be no reason not to move levels again??

Covid pobably didn't weaken her much more than her being 90-fucking-years of age!!!

@voodoo er, I did quantify my statement in the next line saying it was a stretch...
I know, I know, sorry! Wasn't a dig, just having a laugh 😁

@voodoo I was going to say that in my original post but then figured what the hell not my call and it gives her grieving family some solace then hey-ho.

Why they fuck aren't you guys fully open?
Pretty much are or will be by midday tomorrow. Those things that aren't open its more that they can't commercially than that they aren't allowed to.Apart from lots of people working from home as I wander around everything is open - bars all doing well - restaurants OK-ish, even the local brothels are open for whatever tickles your fancy.
I'm heading north tomorrow will be interesting to see how life is in the shires

MoH have agreed to include her in their figures.
And yet:
@Stargazer said in Coronavirus - New Zealand:
COVID-19 is not recorded as the primary cause of her death.
And yet:
@Stargazer said in Coronavirus - New Zealand:
After consideration, we have decided to include Eileen's death in our overall tally of COVID-19 related deaths, consistent with our inclusive approach to date.
Makes a mockery of the numbers.
A shark eats someone who was tested positive would be a covid death FFS.

@Bones said in Coronavirus - New Zealand:
@Snowy I don't see why you're complaining. This plays right into your hands.
Sure, "a shark" ate them.
I'm not complaining and I need a winter wardrobe, but it does make make me wonder about the stats. They probably include missing people as covid deaths. I have no further comment on that.

Snowy Kills More People Than Covid

A stretch but I'll take it.

Is the solace thing an actual reason given by the MOH? I'm no attributing to you anything mate but I hope those words weren't used as justification to inflate numbers by the authority who kept people from funerals for 6 weeks.
The death toll was the reason we sacrificed so much, now they're purposely toying with it like it doesn't matter? Bizarre.

@No-Quarter said in Coronavirus - New Zealand:
WTF why would they have an "inclusive approach"?! They either had it or they didn't.
Looks like NZ is going to have at least 1504 deaths then...
-
@dogmeat whenever I have been out and about the last week or so since I have re-entered society, it is like normal here, if anything, more people about...although I am stupid busy at work, so I'm taking a day off tomorrow

I don't see the problem with including this lady's death in the numbers. Even if COVID-19 was the primary cause of her death, it was likely a contributing/secundary factor. If she hadn't had COVID, she might have lived (a bit) longer, even at her age.

Oh come on! She recovered and tested negative twice! You might as well chalk her death up to the chicken pox she had as a 5yr old or the head cold she got when working in the seafood markets as a 30yr old.
I have a 74yr old mother with lung cancer and months to live. If she got Covid now, it would likely be lethal, and of course would be recorded as a Covid death. But even then, I still wouldn't say she died of Covid, she is dying of bloody lung cancer!!!
Its absurd to consider this recovered case as a Covid death if we want to use the figures for any useful analysis of the virus.

Wow, 1 new case in what 2 weeks, many regions with none in over a month and now a solitary active case...I guess if you were a pessimist you would see the changes coming in today as a chance for a second wave, especially with a long weekend and people travelling...
But youd have to think the pressure to return to 'normal' on the Govt is immense, although I think it's fair to say some people are likely to continue social distancing for some time regardless of level.

Another day no new cases, still only the solitary active case in Auckland
