Why would the Chinese want to spy on you lot??
Snowy maybe but he's probably on a lot of international watch lists...
So techy question.. I've paired with my phone, do I need to keep Bluetooth on now constantly or can I just turn it on to sync the data every now and then? Surely my phone batt will drain pretty quickly if its always on?

I leave Bluetooth on constantly on my phone, not sure it has a huge effect on the battery- but yes, turning it on quickly for 2 minutes after exercise is all you need to sync it

Ticwatch pro 4g is pretty sweet eh. I'm not very good at using a smart watch smartly, so really just wanted a watch where I can leave the phone behind if I'm going running etc and still have sounds, strava, phone etc.

Didn't want to have to recharge all the time so it's perfect for me really - switches the smart screen off in ambient mode and just uses an LCD over the top to just be a watch. Lasts for days. Pretty happy.

Bluetooth seems to have a big effect on my battery. Drains significantly quicker, would estimate at about 25%, maybe more

Constantly searching for wifi drains phones big time as well, but probably the worse is using your own data when away from a wifi hotspot.. though I’d imagine @mariner4life constant porn habits must be a drain on his phone especially

some nights I go to bed and my phone is on >80%, wake in the morning and is 50%, other days is almost the same, fucked if I know what is doing it.

I have a Suunto Spartan Trainer, and I had the strap fixed about a year back (or was it 2...) under warranty (was less than 12 months old) but they also replaced the battery at the same time, and I reckon the battery isnt as good anymore, although TBF I'm one of these people who hates it being below 50%, so even walking around a golf course with the watch connecting to GPS only drains about 10%...

Any suggestions for a watch and strap combo I can use in the pool, and doing hill repeats? I'd like to download workouts onto the computer.
    Cheers

@Wairau you could look into the ticwatch pro I've got, supposed to be ok for pool swimming. Not a pure fitness watch though.

    thanks for the advice

I am also looking at a HR belt like Polar H10 or Suunto Smart Belt which will hold 1 workout then sync to an app later...

@Bones Would you prefer to swim with or without a watch on your arm?
I'm slow, I need all the streamlining I can get haha

@Bones So what time would you be dong for 1600m? I'm on 39 minutes now and aiming to gradually get under 40 for 2000m -might need a coach for technique, but I can see with less weight and much more fitness I'll be faster.

@Wairau I won't be doing any time on that bro. When I do get back in a pool and try some training I'll be lucky to make it to a km without getting bored 😁

@Bones just curious of your speed....yeah, 40 minutes is boring-but luckily I have old people doing breaststroke to dodge and overtake, and other things to look at-the pool is outside with a view of hills. The second 1km is much easier than the first-warmed up, can focus on knocking the target off, and fewer people in the pool due to dinner time.
I do short sprints on Friday and kicking on Sunday-so mixing it up.

Also curious what speed you run on the treadmill-I used to be able to run fast and long when I was lighter. Now at 94 (aiming for 86) I'm doing short intervals @ 14-15km and will speed it up. Ha, and try not to fly off the end of the treadmill-it's dicey when the sweat is pouring down....

@Wairau I'm no athlete these days bro, my times won't provide much inspiration I'm afraid.

Now that I'm pursuing rugby refereeing, I'm back to looking at smart watches as a few of the other refs were saying this app is the balls:

Connect IQ Store | Watch Faces and Apps | Garmin

Anyway there are a fair few supported watches in the list, so think I'll go get the Forerunner 935 on Santa's list or snap it up earlier if a sale pops up
