@hooroo where did you end up, Cape Brett walk? Cruising round you woulda seen some of the islands you need to swim between, when I was there over easter I was trying to recall which islands that event you posted swam to...
Not sure mate. It was a forestry track thing, very near Wharau Road which was where the bach is.
-
@hooroo you woulda known if you did the Cape Brett, most usually hike in and stay in the DOC hut.
looks like Wharau Road is over the other side of the 'Bay' Kerikeri end, so unlikely you woulda gone to Cape Brett for a walk.

@Kirwan Got the series 3 Apple watch and I must say that it has exceeded expectations. I love it.
So much easier for quick texting and calling (in the right place and certainly not in public)
All the gimmicks seem to work well and it is handy for distance finding in Golf too

Glad you like it. I’ve worn mine every day since I got it.
Very handy for chucking in a quick reminder too.

Wife gave me the Garmin Vivioactive 3 for my Birthday.
I've previously used the Apple Watch 2 and at first, I was somewhat disappointed and thought it was a bit of step down. But one you get passed the screen technology (which is obviously far superior in Apple), the Garmin is much more comprehensive and motivating.
The Connect App is brilliant, and does so much for you. I've just started the weight loss part of my overall program to do the London marathon next year and will be using it for logging a number of different things.
Handy too, that the Connect runs synch with the Workout app in the Apple software so I can continue to monitor my YTD progress on runs!

Just bought a fitness watch, never had one before but had a gift voucher to use up so it cost my £30 after the 20 off. I've never really wanted one to be fair, just had to use the voucher or lose it... Sooooo....
Huawei band 4-pro.
I know the H word can be a dirty word around here but I've got a H phone too so I'm quite happy with their products.
Anyway... It's looking good to be fair!! Built in GPS, heart rate, sleep monitor, etc and way cheaper than fitbit. Just as uncomfortable as any watch, I don't wear watches.. Nice light pink colour.
I'm going to give it a go anyway and see it what all this tracking business is about. -

Why would the Chinese want to spy on you lot??
Snowy maybe but he's probably on a lot of international watch lists...
So techy question.. I've paired with my phone, do I need to keep Bluetooth on now constantly or can I just turn it on to sync the data every now and then? Surely my phone batt will drain pretty quickly if its always on? -

Ticwatch pro 4g is pretty sweet eh. I'm not very good at using a smart watch smartly, so really just wanted a watch where I can leave the phone behind if I'm going running etc and still have sounds, strava, phone etc.
Didn't want to have to recharge all the time so it's perfect for me really - switches the smart screen off in ambient mode and just uses an LCD over the top to just be a watch. Lasts for days. Pretty happy.

Bluetooth seems to have a big effect on my battery. Drains significantly quicker, would estimate at about 25%, maybe more

Constantly searching for wifi drains phones big time as well, but probably the worse is using your own data when away from a wifi hotspot.. though I’d imagine @mariner4life constant porn habits must be a drain on his phone especially

some nights I go to bed and my phone is on >80%, wake in the morning and is 50%, other days is almost the same, fucked if I know what is doing it.
I have a Suunto Spartan Trainer, and I had the strap fixed about a year back (or was it 2...) under warranty (was less than 12 months old) but they also replaced the battery at the same time, and I reckon the battery isnt as good anymore, although TBF I'm one of these people who hates it being below 50%, so even walking around a golf course with the watch connecting to GPS only drains about 10%...

@Bones Would you prefer to swim with or without a watch on your arm?
I'm slow, I need all the streamlining I can get hahaHah I haven't swum in years mate but am not a chump swimmer and will be giving it a go when lockdown is over. I'll let you know.
