@Crazy-Horse Heard from a couple of people that it's unwatchable. Spike Lee's movies have been dreadful since 25th Hour.
Disagree, Blackkklansmen was great, She Hate Me and Inside Man (despite the presence of cardboard Clive Owen) were both good - then I agree there were a bunch of dud ones.
-
@Tim Blackkklansmen was kitschy good and a style of movie I did not know he could make and I liked it a lot. I agree with Nepia that Inside Man was good as well and could have been even better had they not cast a plank of wood in the lead.
I think the 5 Bloods is one of his worst. Rotten Tomatoes has it at 91% and that's just another reason not to use that site as a guide for what makes good viewing. He effectively lets Delroy Lindo go all the way over as an actor and while you can feel his rage in a way that is very real his craziness feels forced. The result is a very confusing main character. I liked a few things though. Having the same actors in present-day and in their 70s flashbacks was inspired. It did not detract from what was happening at all and it meant we didn't need to work out who was who. I also thought Lee did ok with not limiting the Vietnamese people to simply scenery. There could have been more but it was good enough.
But other than that it's a hard watch morality piece getting better reviews than it deserves because of the current social climate. Much like Hannah Gadsby and her "comedy".

Black Klansman was shit. Nothing fucken happened in it! It’s almost like Spike Lee and Martin Scorcese are having some sort of contest as to who can churn out the biggest insult to their past glories. At least Lees are more normal in length.

Went to a movie today. In an actual cinema. One of those little arty ones, so I got to drink 2 beers (Rhyme x Reason Joy Ride Pale Ale - solid!) while watching it.
What a fucking treat!
Saw Dark Waters with Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, Anne Hathaway etc, the story of Dupont knowingly poisoning us with Teflon and other waste - pretty good, though to be fair, I could have watched Bambi and been happy in there.
4 forever chemicals in my body out of 5 demented cows charging at me.

@MN5 pretty embarrassed at how little I knew of the story actually
Tongue and cheek comment. Miss MN5 is keen on that one, but again, how much of that is down to the keenness just to see an actual movie at the cinema ?

It's worth a watch. It's just a reincarnation of that Julia Roberts one at the end of the day, and the end result isn't all that satisfying, but it's a good story.
And it's ace to be drinking beers at the movies again!

My boys and I are counting down to the latest Bond, you can rest assured the amber gold will be flowing ! I just hope Empire Cinema is open as it's down the road from the other halfs place so I can indulge in a few brews while watching DC kick arse.

Decent watch still!
Radha MItchell is pretty tidy
3.5 Why the fucks did you do that out of 5 knew that was gonna happens

Anaconda
B Grade as all hell but who cares. A massive fake looking snake, Ice Cube being Gangsta, Jon Voight being creepy and rapey, J Lo and Kari whatshername looking hot.....Owen Wilson making up the numbers.....whats not to love ? hadn't seen it in years and still as entertainingly awful as ever.
4 trips down the river out of 5 blown up damns

Fucking great movie!
Radha Mitchell is fine. I always like Cole Hauser he's a badass. And Vin's character is cool.

Rewatched all the Bourne films: Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, Bourne Ultimatum (IMO Legacy us not really a Bourne film, as no Damon)
I did that during lockdown, including Jason Bourne. The ending of that movie does lend itself to another movie but I think they've exhausted all the stories now.

Yeah I remember watching that at the theatre and enjoyed it then, and on later viewings. The Chronicles of Riddick is a fun watch too.
Riddick was one of the movies I have watched with free Sky movies. About half the way through I remembered I had seen it before but couldn't remember many details as it's that forgettable. It's easily the worst of the three.

I let my kids watch Step Brothers today. Thought it would be harmless enough. Might have been wrong.
4 nutsacks rubbed against 5 snare drums.
I genuinely love that flick.

I watched that again recently too. Amongst the skinny actresses Olga would be near the top of my list for hawtness.
