What the actual fuck?
On the face of it that is a pretty poor look from Parliament but digging deeper is it so awful? Just how many NHS and care staff are there? Is it feasible to test them all every week? Would the tests be that meaningful? What about the use of resources (which we are constantly told are at breaking point)? Will such widespread testing take resource away from other areas that are more urgent?
Calling out for testing for NHS staff is similarly emotive to saving babies. Who wouldn't be in favour of such a thing? A good political soundbite for Starmer et al but not really viable. The bit about clapping is nonsensical too, it is entirely rational to be proud and thankful for what NHS staff have been doing and to vote against such a pie in the sky suggestion.
Unless of course we can magic up resources from Corbyn's magic money tree.

@MiketheSnow I'm yet to see proof of 331 conservative MPs clapping for carers. I have it on good authority they were murdering puppies while we were doing that.
Even if some did clap, they were probably clapping for all the carers not in the NHS, and trying to murder butterflies.

There are always obstacles.
Sometimes insurmountable.
But in the current climate you would expect the Government to do its best. Or explain why it can't.
Neither seem to have been done.

I may be late to the party but talking of clapping I've seen today that the lady behind the 'Clap For Carers' campaign had worked previously with Cummings.
Interestingly her Linkdin profile is now inactive

@MiketheSnow I agree that an explanation would have been a much better look, but in truth that just gives more political credence to Starmer's grandstanding. I'm not sure how the Government could have come out of this issue with a real positive spin. As I said, a good political soundbite.

And so it came to pass. Mr Cockney Rhyming Slang liveth up to his name once more.
-
And clapping achieved what? Perfect example of what's wrong with society.

@MiketheSnow why did they vote against do you know?

Yeah I'd be interested in knowing the details of the bill or whatever. Not interested enough to do even a little bit of research of my own though. Don't want a ban.

Only in France.....

@Victor-Meldrew Now it makes sense that Mrs JC has been trying to make me lick the door handles at the hospital.

@MiketheSnow Do you see a correlation between the wearing of baseball caps and twattishness?

I don't think my twattishness has all that much to do with me wearing a cap.

Don’t dismiss it. Try wearing a baseball cap and see if your twattishness reaches previously unreachable levels.
No need to thank me for this guidance.
