If people can't stay in isolation for free, what hope is there for those expected to pay
I reckon you're more likely to stay if you pay! Fuck forking out all that moolah and then not getting your money's worth.
-
@taniwharugby massive fines and jail. Bloody sick of these stupid assholes causing trouble and putting others at risk. It's two weeks in a hotel. Not difficult.

Time to add some serious punishment to all that condemnation. These fucktards need to have the hammer dropped on them in a heavy enough way to send the right message to all the other fucktards to come that will think about doing the same thing. I'm fine with using anklets too. And if anyone complains tell them it was the Hamilton 5's fault
-
Surely the main driver of these fucksticks to coming home now is from the craziness elsewhere to a covid free NZ yet they risk that very thing by thier actions?
If any of these people are not NZ citizens, revoke thier residency and send them off, similarly if they are dual citizens and NZ not thier birth country they should send them away too.
-
@taniwharugby they don't deserve to be here. In fact by their actions they forfeit the right to be here IMO
-
Also, any fucker who helps these people should be charged too.
-
Waiting for more details to be released.
Four of the five people who allegedly absconded from managed isolation in Hamilton have been charged with breaching the coronavirus Health Act notice. A 37-year-old woman and three young people will appear before the district court and youth court in Hamilton on Saturday, police said. The fifth person, a 17-year-old boy, is set to appear before the youth court in Auckland where he is expected to be charged. The five absconded from the Distinction Hotel on Garnett Ave on Friday evening, Air Commodore Darryn Webb said.

Apparently they were awaiting compassionate leave to attend a funeral.
So the last one was caught in Auckland, assume he/she hitched?

Idiots! I hope they definitely miss the funeral now.
I knew we should have closed the border at the top of the Bombays.
-
Sad story, but seriously, you dont think plenty of people during lockdown faced a flat no regardless of any compassionate circumstances.
-
Surely you check whether your plan will work before boarding a flight, not after.
-
@taniwharugby I am sure there are numerous sad stories, and I do have some sympathy. But if we let people do whatever they want and stop respecting the threat associated with this virus we put everything we've achieved so far at great risk
