@mariner4life Lots of people before the tournament tipped the Chiefs to win, there was lota of hype about them, most people thought they'd outperform the Hurricanes and the Highlanders, on paper their squad looks great. They haven't met pre-season expectations. That was my point.

Big duds have been the Chiefs. I blame Gatland. Apart from that Super Rugby Aotearoa has been 🔥.

they haven't been winning, but by god they've contributed.

I see @mariner4life has beat me to it, but they are not as bad as the record suggests. May yet tip up a contender...

Agree with that. Think the Chiefs will trip up a contender.

Wait, what? That's the first I've heard of that.

Chiefs pre lockdown were 4-2 with wins over the Crusaders and Blues. Losing Allardice and McWhannell combined with Brodie's holiday and Ardons "early" departure (only early due to lockdown) means they have had throw in rookies and loose forwards into their second row. Seeing Cane not confident in the scrum due to 38 year old Thomson packing down was depressing, in a normal situation they may have scored off the scrum (Blues were a man down).

For those wanting a good rundown of how their team is shaping up for 2021 have a look at this page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_2020–21_Super_Rugby_transfers_(New_Zealand)

Ironically it's Wikipedia but it provides a respectable list of player movements.

    @Canes4life They got PU-J wrong.

This is the relevant instagram post from the Canes, showing that he signed for 2020 only. See 3rd photo.

According to Sky’s Breakdown show, 33,000 tickets have already been sold for the Blues vs. Crusaders game.

@KiwiMurph daytime rugby is the winner!

I realise eyeballs on screens is where the money is, but people want to go to earlier games

If we beat the Highlanders and the comps over maybe some players who haven't had much of a go get some game time.

If it's for UK/Africa market, then I'm not sure it matters that much to be honest - they can throw on a replay at breakfast time anyway and the tragics like us will just record the game and watch it over breakfast with the added bonus of being able to fast forward through Marshall explaining an unknown law in a break in play (although I've been getting up for most games).

If it's Aus, how could it not be better to crank up the bbq for lunchtime super rugby?

Congratulations to the Crusaders. Winning this comp with a game in hand is pretty fucking incredible given how close it has been, and the quality on offer.

Yesterday was just a great illustration of what that team is about. The Highlanders were all over them, and the game was slipping away. But they stuck to their process, lifted when they needed to, and their best players got them home.

They are a great side in the mould of the Storm or the Patriots (comparisons used many times over) in that they are all about quality role players doing their jobs in order for their best players to shine.

It's really impressive, and the coaching staff are to be highly commended.

Watching the Crusaders playing against only New Zealand opposition has highlighted for me how often their opponents have opportunities that someone will stuff up. Crusaders take the vast majority of their chances while other teams invariably place themselves under pressure.

I'm glad it's almost over, although I thoroughly enjoyed watching the SRA games. I'm just so looking forward to the Mitre 10 Cup!
