Brumbies vs Canes
-
Canes were as bad as the scoreline suggests. Their forwards got a towelling. Their tight five looks a real weakness, especially in the depth department. Wasnt impressed with Perenara or Barrett. They didnt have a platform but they werent very good, Perenara with his usual errors when pressured and Barrett just sort of floated along as he tends to. Laumape wasnt too bad all things considering and Fifita did ok in his debut off the bench.

Brumbies on the other hand were very good - pleased to see much more ball movement. Theyll be backing themselves to tip over the Tahs minus Foley next week. -

Canes were shocking, no doubt about it.

Defence was optional, and they couldn't get their attack going, let alone build phases, or even hold on to the ball without losing it in contact or spilling it

They look a long long way from last season's finalists. Disappointing.

Whoever said earlier the whole team look unfit/heavy was on the money. They need to shed the kilos and the error-rate and start looking like rugby players.
-

People who pop up from time to time and suggest Barrett should be the starting All Black 10 should be forced to watch games like this over and over.

Not saying this was all his fault but your ten needs to spark and provide more direction and leadership than that.
-

Yeah Lealiifano is a legendary 10 huh....completely outshone Barrett..or not.

I'd say the bigger difference was one position in.
-

Two teams desperate for a win next week when the Highlanders host the Canes.

I'm sure it will be a game of two halves as well

Had high hopes the 'Canes would play well given their performance against the Crusaders and the AB's in the team so was mighty disappointed last night. If we are going to play like shit and cop a thrashing better to be at this end of the comp. Hope this ignites a better effort going forward or it will be a long, sad season for their fans :o(

What happened to the scrums after the first 10 mins?

Savea has bulked up

He looked like he'd spent pre-season at the bakery.

Just came back from the game. If this outfit put 70 odd past the Crusaders, how bad are they?

The Canes looked hopelessly outclassed in the forwards. Shit passing and execution from the backs. Just terrible to watch.

Even worse they've ensured that fuckloads of these filthy public servants will attend next week's game. piston wristed gibbons.

At least that will make it better when the Tahs destroy them.

I hope you're paid plenty of money. I could see no other reason to live in that freezing, barren, pointless shithole.

This is going to be a looong season. -

Exactly, how can anyone evaluate Barrett's ab prospects based on the first game of the Super season. If we did that, most abs (especially GOAT) would have been written off. -

Barrett isn't a proven performer at AB level though. Right now I would put Cruden and Sopoaga ahead of him. Not writing Barrett off though.
-

most ABs DO get written off based on S15+ form!
-

No one is writing Barret off in his bench impact role but he has constantly shown little direction or authority in the starting 10 jersey and setting the tone for the game. The Canes had the majority of possession and opportunities int he first 20 and took none. This isn't one game either he has struggled with it all his Super and AB career hence his AB appearances being mainly at fullback.

He will definitely be back for the All Blacks but in the same impact role behind Cruden or Sopoanga starting.
