The 12-match tournament will now be played across seven weeks with Australia’s clash against New Zealand moved from Saturday 12 December to Saturday 31 October at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium.

South Africa’s Test against Argentina on Saturday 12 December has been moved to Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium to close out the tournament.

The remainder of the draw is otherwise unchanged with five straight weeks of doubleheaders beginning at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Saturday 7 November. Kick-off times have also been confirmed.

The Argentina team has already arrived in Australia and is completing training under strict health regulations, governed by NSW Health and NSW Police. South Africa’s participation remains to be confirmed as the decision is dependent on several factors outside the control of SANZAAR. However, it is a positive sign that the Super Rugby Unlocked tournament kicks-off in South Africa on Friday 9 October.

@Kiwiwomble good way to make sure no one rocks up to any of the RC matches.

My mate just got the text for presales which is good as I've been avoiding the RC threads for a bit due to all the hissy fits on all sides.

Hopefully he gets presales for the Bankwest games too.

What is most concerning is that he's a Kiwi who is both a member of Manly and Aussie Rugby.

Rennie couldn't have asked for a tougher start to his Wallaby career. It will actually be very interesting to see how the squads/gameplans shift in those 4 games.

"Robinson said he was pleased with the schedule shift after “constructive dialogue” with Sanzaar and RA but wouldn’t outline exactly what compromise NZR had made.."

In other words "I'm not going into detail about what a shit sandwich tastes like"

To be backed into that corner and have to avoid a fight with the NZRPA and players was incompetent.
Robinson is looking as average off field as he was on so far.

    Yes.

All four unions have agreed to split revenue from the Rugby Championship, given Australia is hosting due to Covid-19, and if the cost of moving the match impacts the overall bottom line, New Zealand might be forced to make up the difference. For example, under the new proposal, there would only be five double-headers instead of six.
If administrators agree profits from the tournament will be diminished because of New Zealand’s insistence on the game be moved, the Kiwis may have to settle for a reduced slice of the financial pie.

@Machpants The article was written before the official announcement of the change but the SMH is RA's mouthpiece aren't they?

@Bovidae An extra game means more ticket sales so how are they reducing profit?

Cos the last game will be a loss, SA Vs Arg, no double header, after the RC is most likely already decided? Unless that stadium is a 7k seater

That would be my guess too. The Wallabies and ABs will be driving ticket sales so going to Newcastle for a neutral game might not be that attractive. We'll see how the ticket sales are for each game.
