wonder what the player welfare issues would be? maybe temperature at that time of year? less travel than normal and less COVID than in South afirca

They would feel bad losing their #1 world ranking, player mental welfare.

@Crucial Suppsedly, Argies full squad is in Sydney (or Aus, at least) covid free and training.

Soft as fuck from SA imo.

We better get on the phone to Japan because it looks like SA want out all the way.

That a team ranked sixth in the world will beat the world champions?

@Machpants Haha, maybe they're afraid of the Argies, who are already in Oz and haven't played any domestic rugby (so are even less prepared than the Boks). If they lose against the ABs or Wallabies, they have their excuses ready, but against the Pumas they haven't any.

TBH so what, to not play cos you might get beaten is a fucking poor excuse. Everyone knows they will be under the pump, but they’ll fall further behind not playing anything until they are a hundy they can beat Oz

@Machpants It's not about losing. They have a valid point about player welfare (injury risk). The Pumas have taken a big risk by taking a squad that is presumably full of rookies and that is totally unprepared. They haven't played for ages. All they've had is a camp in Uruguay and now in Oz.

From you, yes. but from SA coaches and media, it is mentioned as an actual consideration!

EDIT: Yes about player welfare, but Arg are doing it with no games/internal work from scratch, why can’t they? They’ve been training for as long as Arg

SA were making comments about not coming before they even started playing again, citing the length of time players would be away from family etc. Rassie even sowed the seed that an understrength team could tour.

Report: South Africa to withdraw from opening rounds of Rugby Championship

Rugby in the Southern Hemisphere is set for further disruptions this season with reports emerging that the Springboks are set to withdraw from next month's Rugby Championship.

    Baabaa's anyone?

it has to be too late to get a completely new tea off the ground doesn't it?

Pacifica? They would be keen for a game. What is the Afrikaans word for "pussies"?
