I've never been a Nadal fan (firmly in camp Fed) but he seems like a good dude despite his idiosyncrasies. Djokovic, in comparison, is a big piston wristed gibbon.

This probably means that Novak edges closer to Federer and Nadal in the number of Grand Slam wins. It would be great if Tsitsipas or Medvedev prevail.

I always stylistically preferred Federer, and before him Sampras.

But, assuming everyone at their peak, I'd have to acknowledge Djokovic as the best all round player I've seen.

@Bovidae I think I might have almost sneakily shifted over to the Nadal camp. Roger has a bit of Swiss smugness about him sometimes.

Nadal is full of idiosyncracies - which most of you probably know...

For a man who has lost just once in eight years playing the clay courts here at Roland Garros, Rafael Nadal surprisingly admits to feeling moments of great vulnerability.

Unfortunately for Novak Djokovic, who has made winning the 2013 French Open Championship his No1 priority of the year, he does not reveal any weakness that might be exploited if, as expected, they meet in the semi-final.

Nadal is afraid of the dark, he explains. He has a motorbike he is too scared to ride and drives his car at home in Porto Cristo, on the island of Majorca, with great caution. He distrusts all but the smallest dogs.

'I am not the most courageous guy in the world outside of the court,’ said Nadal here on Friday evening. ‘Being alone in the dark is something I don’t like.’

Friends will tell you he can sleep all night on his couch with the television on.

'I am improving as a driver,’ he said. ‘During the first two years, I was so-so; but now I am not dangerous! But it’s true, I go slow most of the time.

‘I won’t go on the motorbike, though. I appreciate a lot in this life; the things you cannot buy. Life is only once. I am happy being here and all the things that are a risk I normally avoid.’

He's also apparently scared of thunder and lightning and won't go out of his depth in the sea.

    Osaka beats Williams - again.

Grand Slam no.24 is looking further away with every tournament.

I think she has let some golden opportunities to get her 24th title slip over the last few years. Looks like the train has left the station

Seems like Serena keeps getting hit by one player who can tip her over.

She looked very good and much more mobility than I've seen in recent times when she dispatched Halep - and on the other side of the draw it's going to be Brady or Muchova.

Osaka-Williams looked like the real final.

Are the worst value tickets in the world, those to the woman's final of any grand slam tournament? Has there ever been an epic match where one game was worth the admission price alone? Decided to tune in to the final this morning, and like pretty much so all others ... it was a one sided drubbing. The commentators were completely full of shit. Consistently talking about some of some of the epic points, which weren't, and building up Brady as not being out of it, when she was. I cannot remember a single final that I've watched that wasn't a one-sided waste of time.

The paying Aussie public should be thanking Coronavirus from saving them from yet another boring, one sided crap-fest.

Finals in general are often disappointing. When I've gone to the AO in the past, games around the 4th round to SF are often better

The women should play best of 5 sets. Their finals are often shit because one has a nervous start and then the match is pretty much done by the time she gets a rhythm. Equal pay for equal work and all that as well. I really wonder if Serena Williams would have been as dominant having to play best of 5.

Just like last night. Sometimes you just have to accept that one player was far superior to the other. Both challengers put up spirited fights in the first set only to lose in relatively orderly fashion soon after

I can tell you the conditioning (or lack thereof) of ladies would make five sets totally tedious.

Women’s tennis just isn’t as exciting a sport, as demonstrated unequivocally by viewing figures. It is what is.

@sparky Oh, have been out of the loop on this but I assumed he'd have had no chance of winning considering the trials and tribulations he had to suffer due to quarantine in Australia.
