    @MN5 that was my recollection. He was an excellent batsman then just stopped

    @canefan He was an amateur and gave it away to concentrate on his teaching career. Couldn't spare the time away from his job.

    I don’t remember him playing but being the stats nerd I was ( much tougher in those days relying on the newspaper ) being shocked that a guy averaged even more than Martin Crowe but wasn’t playing.

    I remember him being very solid, classy, then he was gone. If he had been able to make a living like they do today he would have been at least on a par with someone like Andrew Jones, or better from what I remember
