@bones No one here is as witless, dumb, or corny as him. A complete idiot who'd annoy the fuck out of you in a bar.

On the back of this, is it once again time to roll out a thread on who might actually be able to staff a few footy broadcasts and shows with eloquence, wit and knowledge??

It's a pretty dire situation, with Wheeler there for humour, Karl Tenana there for interviews, Steven Bates providing colour commentary, Ian Jones and Tabai Matson doing the analysis and Riki Lee Swannel yell-shreiking some commentary.

@tim I think she's good enough. Her voice isn't easy on the ear, but that has nothing to do with her commentary itself.

    I quite like her.

Far better than Laban for a start.

Terrible because the source material of the 12th man was actually good

A lot of Japanese expats I've met have been good "lad" types, who are up for a crude laugh. I wouldn't do that to them on national TV though ...

Also, Wheeler is one of the stupidest sounding, backwards hicks in NZ, so he's in no position to take the piss out of anyone.

Is he any different to any other NZ rugby ‘personalities’ though ?

Izzy Dagg was a fine player but I’d rather have my teeth pulled than spend any time with him.

They could mostly use source material though, save money.

My take is Wheeler is angling for a breakfast host spot on the rock.

They may be boring or dumb, but they aren't putting it in your face. He's just much more annoying.

He made the news in the UK and Ireland. Won't be surprised if he gets the sack or at the very least, not renewed.

Perfect example of failing upwards, just trying to be funny and an ex player is enough to get a gig.

would be a strange world we live in if wheeler gets the sack and we have a speaker of parliament who falsely accuses someone of rape repeats it knowing it is false ,the tax payer pays out over 300 grand in damages and then gets his lawyer to send a letter where he tells the defendant that it will be his character that will be dragged through court and our Pm says it alright he has apologized

Don't think he should be sacked but let's face it, if enough people do even if it's a minority, he will be. Because he's not a draw for the rest of the audience who doesn't care.

    Yes. No.

Happens everywhere. Difference is that the dumbfuck did it at the start of a long weekend where there is no news, news about the weather, old news and rehashed news.
He should have engineered a natural disaster that night.

Bet he’s the type of person who questions what colour skin a baby will have. Could you just imagine the horror??
