@kiwiwomble Yeah catch up on s3 and then dive into s4.
That's one thing i hate about good TV series now, that huge gaps between series and obviously covid messed that up even more.
-
@r-l yeah, was talking about this to the wife, even just back in the 2000's seasons (i noticed it when i watched West Wing again last year, 22 well written episodes a season) would be +20 episodes and so the time between the end of one season and the start of the next might only be six months...but now seasons are only 6-10 there is a much bigger gap and i struggle to keep up to date sometimes

@mariner4life omg I cried my heart out to that episode, it had This Woman's Work as the soundtrack, remember it well. Aaaaaargh, your wife will love the latest eps when you guys can watch them, i cried again tonight. Give it another go, it can be depressing but its also got that cheer on the underdog vibe, like Gladiator..kinda.
Just finished series 2. Bloody good show. I am finding it strangely riveting.

For those in NZ, there's this thing called terrestrial TV. You can't stream it and you have to wait a week between episodes but I'm quite enjoying Vegas.
Quite dark both in its humour and cinematography. Comic book production and nice use of te reo
Watched the first and half the second. Not quite gelling with me yet. Overblown but not so much that it is obviously not taking itself too seriously. Would be really good if it hit that mark in the way Outrageous Fortune/Westside did.
By the way you can stream it. TVNZ OnDemand.

Speaking of dark NZ tv, anyone watching Creamerie yet?
-
@stockcar86 yes. I've watched Ep 1. Not sure at this stage. Will probably persevere. Interesting that a world ruled by wimmin has descended into proto-fascism. Already lampooning quite a few woke totems so gets a tick for that.

@mariner4life oh no, oh no no no, this is not "switching off" TV. Move along and watch The Simpsons, you don't deserve HMT anyway.
Being told by my very feminist workmates that I "need" to see it and it's a "must watch" has made me leery. It's not hysterical feminist nonsense is it?

I recommend watching it, or just saying you watched it - and reporting back to her that it was great... a true Utopian vision.
(Edit: disclaimer - I haven't actually watched it yet myself, but I've read the books. I prefer to give it some time after reading books to watch any TV/movie made of them... I'm getting to the point where I'm nearly ready to give it a go, particularly as the TV has now outpaced the source material, I think?)

You probably shouldn't watch it if that's your viewpoint going into it.
It's a bit like Homeland in that it had a great first season and then lost then plot for subsequent seasons.

I'll give HMT another go based on your recommendations. There are consequences for poor advice...
I think that the show fell off a cliff once the Margaret Atwood story ended and the TB guys took over the writing but I shall try, and on your head be it.
Agree about waiting times for the next series. Easy to lose interest. I tend to binge a whole series anyway, a long indulgent session can be more rewarding than a quickie for an hour.

You are even more of a shit stirrer than me. I would like to see the outcome of that conversation in video (landscape obviously) please @Frank .

Yes and with disappointing results I reckon, but I haven't started S4.
@R-L will be in for a serious spanking (figuratively of course) if it is shit.

I had the later thought - he could follow up with mentioning it had given him the idea of setting up a new political party - the "Sons of Jacob"...
- "... but I need 500 paying members, so... can I count on your support?"

I plan to binge watch it to take notes for my utopia come the economic collapse. Is that what these feminists secretly want?

I’m getting into the first series of The Terror. Ciaran Hinds, Jared Harris (Chernobyl). Pretty damn good so far. Based on the real life incident of HMS Terror and HMS Erebus getting stranded in the Arctic ice looking for the NW Passage. Other than that flimsy connection just a good suspenseful story. Worth a, what is it you guys call it? A hoon. Worth a hoon?

Got to admit, I was hoping for that reaction, and expecting it really...
I'll go out of my way to dislike HMT series 4 now.
