The Herald can also reveal that the planned two tests against Italy in July will no longer be played, with the Azzurri having indicated they won't be coming to New Zealand.

All Blacks set for 47-year first as opponent pulls out

    Paywall so

July tests Italy allegedly pulled out of coming here, Ireland Def not going to Fiji. Possible ABs double header vs Fiji and A N Other international/test.

3 Bleds in a row 7th Aug Welly, Melb, 21st AKL - two of them count as RC. Arg and SA ( if the deign to grace us with their presence) play RC in both NZ and Oz, cos we can travel within bubble once they;ve been in either Oz or NZ for 2 weeks.

Not surprised that Italy have pulled out. They had a torrid time in the 6 Nations and Covid is still bad there. The games would have a one-sided waste of time.

I'd be looking to arrange a North Vs South game then a test or tests against Fiji or the USA before the RC.

I'd be looking to arrange a Grand Slam tour to the UK in October/November. Fans will be back in the UK stadiums by then and an ABs tour would generate enormous media interest here.

@sparky Northern tours are already set, unless the ABs (and opponents) want to add on another couple of out of window matches like vs Wales

New Zealand Rugby is getting set to turn their July test window into an historic celebration of Pacific Islands rugby, dovetailing nicely with their expansion plans for the Super game in 2022.
They are looking to pit the All Blacks against Fiji in back-to-back tests and add Samoa to the three-game window to create a special moment in history for the Pasifika nations.

To be honest, far more interested in games against the Pacific teams than Italy.

Not sure myself, most of their best players won't make it cos they're NH

It might not be the best preparation for the Rugby champ etc
Australia are playing France and SA the. British lions.
It might give us some false answers to some selection issues playing the pacific teams.

how depressing, and probably quite correct 😐

Here's hoping we see some really good play from the ABs this year, and change our minds on the coaches. Not losing to Argentina and Australia again.

In a year that the B&I Lions tour someone gets France and the other two SANZAAR teams get the rest. In 2017, France toured SA, an understrength England toured Arg while Aust hosted Fiji, Scotland and Italy.

Bad timing for us then after last years efforts under the present coaches.

World Rugby and national unions have agreed a revised July test schedule. According to the media release and schedule, the All Blacks will play the following tests:

    • 10 July 2021: NZ v Fiji
    • 17 July 2021: NZ v Fiji

No mention of a NZ v Samoa match (yet), but interestingly the Oceania 1 RWC2023 qualifiers between Samoa and Tonga are played on the same dates as NZ v Fiji and according to the World Rugby media release, they will be played in New Zealand, so possibly as curtain raisers?

If NZ plays another test against Samoa, maybe Fiji will play Tonga?
