What I'd select
A Smith
Beauden
Clarke
Jordie
ALB
Rieko
JordanMo'unga and DMac on the bench to rip shit up against a tired defense.
Unstoppable.
I don't mind your starting XV, but not for the first up tests.
Beaudy's gone off to Japan to tout his wares, so he can bide his time. I'm of the opinion that Richie is a better first five now anyway - but, it's hard to be definitive. I haven't seen Beaudy play there for a significant period for a couple of years.
I definitely think Jordie could be our best 12 - but, he hasn't played there for several years, so I don't think he warrants the experiment unless the Canes are willing to shift him for the Trans- Ta$man stuff.
Will Jordan on the right wing.
To be honest, only Aaron Smith is locked in. ALB will be in the XV, but could be 12 or 13.

Trouble is that I don’t see a creator in there. Lots of Players that can create something from nothing if given the opportunity and a bit of luck but not someone that creates opportunities against organised defence.
RM is the closest we have to that then DMac because of the way he changes up the picture chiming in from the back.LOL RM and DMac both have a history of shitting the bed against an organised defense. No way are they "creators", we haven't had one of those since Carter and Cruden were at the helm.
Both those guys are best suited to the bench at test level.

Anyone reckon Pita Gus Sowakula has a chance of a call-up?
He's looked bloody good when he has come on for the Chiefs.I think he would be worth a look but the loose forward market is quite crowded. Those currently in form, those identified last year and those that have been injured.
If we want a big man to get over the gain line off the scrum he's an option -

All Black Fans: Stop playing people out of position!!!
Also All Black Fans: Put Jordie Barrett at 12!!!
There's a lot of truth to that, mainly in hindsight when we think about the likes of Cullen and MacDonald at 13 etc, but there is also a case to be made for giving J Barrett a crack at 12. I'd like to see it tried in a lesser test say against Fiji or Italy and if he's convincing then he gets a go in a bigger test.

He's looked bloody good when he has come on for the Chiefs.Nope, he's looked good in maybe two games this season. That is all.
He had a pre-season injury and his early appearances were getting back up to speed. Since then he has been very good. A good test tonight. Let's see how in goes in an unusual position against a top team and under pressure. That will be a true indicator.

I know that JB has played 12 before but I still struggle trying to picture him in that jersey when I watch his go to style of play.
He tends to run at angles and try to go around people. Doesn't show much of a step or crash.
Probably due to his playing at 15 but his passing game isn't a standout either. As said above, I wouldn't be upset at him being given a try there to show what he would bring but I just feel is is a better player with a bit of a wind up.

@shark I've seen a lot of players look amazing smashing shit teams that never go on with it. If it's something they are considering then pull the trigger, pick him, and let him have the year, results be damned.
He needs a season there at SR to show his wares but the bloody Canes refuse to play him there. Very annoying as we need to develop more 12s in NZ and he has the attributes and a body of work in that position already.
Man putting him in the wing for the ABs last year was one of the most braindead selections I've ever seen. Fuck Foster.

*I wonder how highly they rate DMac at 15/10 cover.
**I'm not sure what is happening with RM/BB at 10 or BB at 15. I'd assume JB is ahead of his bro at 15.Beaudy came out and said he wanted to play 10, so if he holds that line with Foster it will be him and Richie in the 10 and 22 jerseys.
However, if he's still willing to bend to Foster's two playmakers thing, then I don't think your assumption that Jordie is ahead is necessarily correct, because at the last AB waypoint Beauden was at fullback and Jordie on the wing.
I reckon they'll be pretty happy with DMac as their third first five - because from what I've seen this year, next in line is probably Mitch Hunt. Nothing against Mitch, but he's a substantial drop from our top two and I wouldn't want to see him as the number one goal kicker in a tight test.
Some interesting quotes from Beauden - said he prefers 10 but went along with playing 15 "for the good of the team". As I suspected the ABs putting RM at 10 didn't sit well with him, especially when RM was shitting the bed. Again really dumb to continue with that selection when it was clear it wasn't working. RM has played by far his best test footy off the bench which is a role he's better suited too.
He also said it's clear that Jordie, DMac and Jordan are all much better FBs than he is, so he doesn't rate himself in that position to begin with

Body of work? One season at NPC level.

It is not going to happen under Foster,15 or wing it looks like he sees JB.
Maybe if Razor was AB coach as he wanted JB to play 12 which he did every start in NPC for Canterbury in his debut year.. -

Of BB will say the other 3 are better FBs as he will be helping his Bro out to nail the AB 15 jersey.
It will be interesting how BB plays after a season in Japan, intensity way down on SR big step up to test rugby.
Whitelock wasn't at his best last year after playing in Japan,It has taken him to this season to get up to his best again. -

He was very effective at crash ball running for the NZ U20s from 12. Obviously a number of years ago, against much less effective defenses. But I think he has that ability.
He also put in a lot of very dominant hits, from memory.

In the 2016 NPC - 6 starts at fullback, 4 at 12 and 1 at 13 (plus 1 game as a sub)
It was the u20s where he was always at 12

Ahhh true well more chances in the MF than with Foster anyway.

Yeah, I'm just not convinced that a guy that grew up as a 10 but was an unusual size as a 19 year old and used at 12 for a dozen or so games at age grade and semi-pro level is a definite option at pro and test level.
If the Canes ran him there for a season and he was good then I'd jump on that train but to declare him an option now is OTT. -

MF? Why would Foster give him a go at 12 when his franchise coach won't?
