@bovidae said in Highlanders v Rebels:
The Rebels were hoping to relocate to Sydney and then fly to Queenstown but were unable to secure enough seats in time.
Latest Stuff says theres a backup plan for them both to meet in Sydney, makes sense to get the game done.

maybe we should move it.....

@bovidae said in Highlanders v Rebels:
The Highlanders have confirmed that their game against the Melbourne Rebels has been moved from Queenstown to Sydney. The game will now be played at Leichhardt Oval in Sydney at 3pm local time (5pm NZ time).
so in the last2-3 weeks the landers have gone
Dunedin > Auckland > Sydney > Perth > Sydney > Auckland > Queenstown/Dunedin (not sure) > Auckland > Sydney

Was Wellington that bad?
You haven't been to Wellington?
Numerous times.
The Rebels' decision to go back home between NZ games has had major implications, which will cost the Highlanders (and likely the Chiefs) in the pocket.

Surely they'd be reimbursed. Its their home game.
-
sio staying on the wing, once again pretty happy with that squad
Lentjes has been with us since 2015 and this is only just his 50th cap, shows how injuries have hindered him

You would hope so, but where does the money come from? SR TT would be a NZR-RA tournament so I suppose both national bodies end up paying for it. Refunding tickets, the loss of hospitality income and the additional travel/accommodation costs would be significant.
I'll be curious if Sky is also sending over their commentators scheduled to broadcast this game.

I'd like to see Gregory run it a bit more, he doing the basics well at 12, but seems to just be moving the ball on but we know he has some pace and power, needs to back himself

Get in Collins!
-
Stan commentator talking about how the nz teams wonβt be able to keep up if the Aussie ones can keep the ball moving....
-
Not a great start from Ioane. Smith looked pissed at him after the second shitty carry.

Couple of great hits by Lentjes so far, then nicely worked try
