Well because he left before Aug 2, frees up an extra 250k. Apparently Joey Manu target of a 1m bid as a result

Joey Manu is a player i would love to get. Not sure i am paying a centre a million bucks though.

well if the Roosters end up with the hectic cheese they won't have enough to keep Joey even with a salary sombrero..1m is a lot, but often teams like the warriors have to pay overs anyway

surely the Storm pony up the cash to keep the Cheese?

as to the 2nd sentence, yup, and that's why the bottom teams and the top teams stay pretty much the same year after year. You either get lucky with a whole bunch of juniors at the same time like Penrith, or you pay overs and hope to fuck they don't flame out.

Or you are the Storm or the Roosters and you get guys for unders because they will win you stuff and get you in rep teams.

I think the storm are likely to match it, but if he wants to be a starting hooker every week then to be honest he is better off leaving and I suspect he might.

Pity Manu isn't talking Union. He is one guy I'd love to see give it a go.

Blake Ayshford said that he was told earlier in the year that Joey Manu wants to come home. Either to the Warriors or the Chiefs.

There was that rumour about Manu to the Chiefs earlier in the year. He's from the Pacific Island of Tokoroa so a homie.

@bovidae Yeah, I posted about it earlier in the year.

He'd look handy at the end of the Chiefs backline.

Considering all the players that were missing, I'm happy with the win. I don't think anyone expected the Warriors to win.

The quality of the match wasn't high, but when you're on a 7 game losing streak and missing most of your best players, you take these ones any day.

Aitken looked good in the 2nd row. He made 163m and 43 tackles.

The Warriors wish they could play the Tigers every week.

Everyone does. I wish they'd rename the club Wests Magpies.

Welp. That's likley to be that.

Storm vs Panthers coming up soon.

Sadly, it might not be much of a contest with the Panthers missing Cleary, Yeo, Fisher-Harris, Koroisau and To'o.

With Harry Grant back, the Storm are pretty much at full strength now.

I've pulled sticks on the season. Basically feel that way about all sports except MMA.

The Storm are making it look easy. The Panthers' defense is looking quite fragile.

    Storm win quite comfortably, 37 - 10.

Storm vs Sea Eagles should be a much better match-up next week.

Panthers vs Roosters should be good too. Panthers will likely get a few their stars back for that one.

the comp is so uneven it's not even funny.

Tommy Turbo gave the Sharks a hiding last night. The Sharks are in the 8 (but that's nothing really to celebrate this year) but they were thumped. Again.

Melbourne and Penrith sit way out in front with 15 wins and a points differential of +1,000 (actually that's not even close, the Storm are 120 points in front there as well)
The bunnies and the Eels are only 1 and 2 wins back. But that's a false gap, in actual fact they are light years behind.
The Roosters are somehow still 5th despite missing half a roster. Will be cannon fodder for the top 2
Manly are 6th, and are the only smokey outside of the top 3 for a GF berth based purely on their fullback.

Everyone below this mark are dogshit. The Dragons in 7th are 8-9, Sharks are 7-10. These teams will play finals FFS. 10 of 18 teams have a losing record.

An old school Top 5 finals series would be a far better spectacle than what week 1 of the finals will serve up.
