SpaceX have quietly been building the biggest rocket in history.

[Update: Booster 4 rolls out, Starship 20 stacked] SpaceX works at stunning speed installing 29 Raptor engines overnight on Super Heavy Booster 4 ahead of Starship SN20 orbital flight

[Update: Booster 4 rolls out, Starship 20 stacked] SpaceX works at stunning speed installing 29 Raptor engines overnight on Super Heavy Booster 4 ahead of Starship SN20 orbital flight

Update: Booster 4 has rolled to the launch site and is now awaiting integration with Starship 20, which has been...

Possibly prepping to be fully stacked in two days. It's insane. They installed 29 engines overnight. Say what you like about Elon, but that dude has got a company focussed on scaling rocketry. Chapeau.

That photo of 29 engines is freaking amazing. Can't wait to see that launch.

They are well through building the launch pad that is going to "catch" the Starship and refuel it.

my mind is truly blown. Honestly, for all the stick that Bezos and Branson get, Musk has singlehandedly turned the space industry on his head. He's taking us from hand built rolls royces, to mass produced fords in the space place. Once Starship gets going, I can see multiple space stations going up. multiple Hubble type space telescopes, asteroid mining, the moon, even goddamn mars.

We live in such an exciting time.

NASA website has a bunch of downloadable sounds from various missions to use as ringtones

    NASA
“Houston we have a problem “ seems a pretty good one for when the wife calls.

@nzzp yeah, spaceX and at the next level down rocketlab seem to be taking it seriously. The vanity project aspect is at least matched by the serious business

bezos and branson...seem more vanity project than anything

This is worth a watch (more to come). It's very interesting what he says about design being a rounding error in the manufacturing process. Easy to design a rocket, hard to build the rocket factory essentially.

Also like his comments about the design process they use, great line about the problem with smart engineers optimising a process/part that doesn't need to exist. Had great examples for it too.

@nta I love that picture so much.

This thing fully stacked is so cool. Any news on when it’s getting fired up?

Nope - but they wouldn't be risking it unless they were ready to do something I guess.
