because the Palace Chook is a fucking dickhead?
thought her little rant in Parliament yesterday had one interesting part
she can't open the borders and let Delta in because the health system would collapse. Who is in charge of the state health system? The State Government. Which party has been in power since the mid-90s (except for one 3-year period?) her party.
The cynic in me says there is no government support given because they can't afford it, and the overwhelming thing driving her decision making is that she knows there is no capacity at all in the health system. Because of decades of financial mis-management and a bloated public service.
Nah, it's all the CHO's call...

The challenge is the other two states, but one is saying nothing to see here we are Covid free (WA) and the other is saying ridiculous things in the parliament today about kids and trying to scaremonger (Qld)

@kiwiwomble Tbh it's a normal reaction worldwide by politicians

If I recall correctly didnt she and her health expert use the same "but the kids!" strategy as to why QLD would not allow AZ to be used more frequently as well?
Clearly that line works up your way

@bayimports no one will take AZ in Qld because both her and the CHO went on TV and said it will kill 18 year olds.
It's small, but there might finally be a bit of tide turning up here. This shit, along with letting the NRL families in, and people are starting to get the shits.

and she is also wondering why vax rates are slower and of course its always a federal problem.
As for the NRL families, well its anyone who brings cash isnt it? the family part is just a small part of it, but makes a nice story. I am sure when the NRL said we will bring these games to your local economy but the families must be allowed to be a part of it, that was probably how the deal was done. I would suggest it was also more thank likely all about the money!

of course it was, and i don't have a problem with it. Having all the NRL here has been great for several regional areas.
however, when you are denying everyone else and calling it a "health decision" then you are taking the piss
When you also publicly say that the decision was the CHO's you are abdicating responsibility to an unelected official who is leaving the post in 2 months to become the Governor
It stinks. And i am sick of it. And i am sick of the distinct lack of pushback. And yes i am sick of the uncertain future because the government have already backed out of their agreement re the borders.

I don't get the whole "unelected official" thing.
Mainly in light of Craig Kelly. He's elected and he's batshit fucking crazy while being dumb as shit.
Mmmmm... smells like Horse medication ....

It's the messaging. It's one thing to say "under the advice I've received we're taking this direction". If the media wants more detail, then direct the CHO to provide that relevant health related detail. But it's another thing entirely to handball to the CHO who says she's made economic decisions.
Note to Palachook; take responsibility.

ah, hi
so, the Qld Premier just tweeted that if there is an outbreak, 6 months later even at 70% vaccinated, 80 people will die a day.
Is she in possession of information no one else in the Country has? Or is she just the only one brave enough to say it? or, actually, i don't want to consider the alternative
