Burpees seem easy but then all of a sudden hit ya like a ton of lead….that lead goes to your legs and stops you jumping at the end.

    They’re grim.

Must do some in amongst the heavy bag workouts on cardio days.

They just seem to never end. The first 5 or so seem to go pretty quick, but the rest take forever.

When I last did them I never bothered with the push up part of it ( I think I figured it might mess up any potential #chestgainz )

I’ve changed my mind, I’ll just destroy myself with the heavy bag instead as that’s more functional. Fuck burpees.

Have to do them properly. I do boot camp every week and there's alot of "burpees" that look more like "hiccups".

For leg conditioning I like to do Ninja jumps……

and these weird sort of kick squats I saw on this Sonny Liston training vid ( at 1.10 in the vid, they take a bit of balance but they’re awesome ! )

Both of those are great for strength, balance and conditioning I reckon.

Also absolute FUCK getting in a fight with Sonny Liston back in the day. George Foreman was intimidated by him which says it all.

Weekend update - no weights but short forest ride Saturday until busted the derailleur and had to do repairs to make it ridable. Sunday did 6km family walk and then 25km of urban trails with my son in the arvo.

    Manmaker monday

    Warmup - 20x Push-ups, squats, mountain climbers x 3. Run 500m

Manmakers (10kg DBs) - 21/15/9 with 500m run after each set of reps.

Abs and glutes - 10mins of pilates type stuff

    About 35mins all up.

Wife said wanted to join me for this mornings workout. She did manmakers with 1kg dumbells so flew thru them but that probably helped spur me on as didnt think I would make 21reps unbroken with the 10kg. Felt like was gonna be a struggle after about 9 or 10 reps but ground it out.

    JK you’re a beast !

I’ve been mixing things up a bit too without actually writing in whatever fitness forum I’ve had on here. Big hill walks, calisthenics, shadow boxing, chins, push up variations, plyometrics etc. I’m also gonna grab a sledgehammer from Bunnings ( which I can tomorrow ) and do some tyre training ! THAT will be fucken awesome !

@jk I'm looking forward to going to the gym tomorrow, probably gonna have to go midday or around 7/8pm to avoid the throngs of people out for thier gym fix!

Fully intended doing something yesterday, but as I was going to, Miss 13 asked me to look at her new phone as something wasnt working properly...30mins later, sorted but motivation to workout gone.

Haven't looked in to it closely given Auckland still a wee while away from level 2 but looks like need to wear a mask in the gym?

@jk post from our gym said not compulsary but recommended (think as it is not a public place?) are limiting numbers, turning off water fountain and fans, most stuff is 2m anyway, are a few areas 2m wont be possible.

@jk @Toddy I'll wear one anyway, went for a walk up the maunga here last week and wore a mask the whole way, was tough for some of the uphill section, but sweet as otherwise.

It's absolutely farcical in Brisbane. We have to wear a mask to and from the gym but can take it off while training. My GF is a Les Mills instructor and there are no masks worn while the classes are going in that confined space. As soon as class is over everyone has to mask up.

Interestingly my experience is that many younger people in their 20s choose to wear masks even while training. Not sure if that's a fashion statement or for health reasons. 🤔

Wednesday with da wife - Cardio based workout today.

    Run 400m
    50 Mountain climbers
    50 Squats
    50 Pushups
50 Push press (20kg ez bar)
    Run 400m
    40 Mountain climbers
    40 Squats
    40 Pushups
    40 Push press
    Run 400m
    30 Mountain climbers
    30 Squats
    30 Pushups
    30 Push press
    Run 400m
    20 Mountain climbers
    20 Squats
    20 Pushups
    20 Push press
    Run 400m
    10 Mountain climbers
    10 Squats
    10 Pushups
    10 Push press

10mins random pilates / abs stuff

Hardest part of workout started off as the push press as 50reps of 20kg for me but a battle but knocked it off in 10s and not too bad. First set tried to do the 50 unbroken and died in the late 20s.
After two rounds the hardest part become the start of the run as so hard to keep the arms up - really could feel it in the shoulders and triceps

    And this morning was Ellen

    Buy in - 11s of mountain climbers / squats (10reps/1rep, 9/2, 8/3 etc)

    Ellen - 3 rounds of
    20 Burpees
    21 alternating KB snatch (16kg)
12 DB thrusters (10kg per side)

    Buy out - 11s of push-ups / V-ups (10/1, 9/2, 8/3 etc)

Ellen was short but difficult (much like an Ellen I knew at school). Was all over in about 10mins with the thrusters the worst as struggle to keep arms up.
