@voodoo yeah I think they measure it from those eligible, which since 1st September, is everyone 12+
Not on that chart. E.g. Ireland is 90% of over 12s, but 75% total population.

Not to start a fight, and not directed at you personally, but to an extent NZ is saying exactly this. I haven't see a groundswell of pressure on the Government to run hell-for-leather at vaccinating then to open borders as soon as some threshold is reached. Have I missed that?
Got the first bit. Don't think the people of NZ are saying that (anymore at least) and yes I would love to know the number as well. It has been asked many times. Just not answered by government.
Yes there is a groundswell I would say anecdotally. Hit a Vax number and let us out.
There has also been a massive surge in Vax numbers, but nobody says what the target is. So that is socially responsible citizens getting jabbed, not government intervention. TBF at least it is readily available.
Sorry about your situation mate. It sucks, as you know we have been there. The feeling of helplessness is the worst.

I hope that's right!

@rapido when I went in to the Economist they actually have NZ twice on that graph once at 65.3 and once at 61...
Here's latest from WID
Is that % of total population or over 12's? Here in Aus we are more focussed on 16+ which to me is more relevant. Australia wide that number is 64% 1st, 39.4% 2nd.
More importantly in NSW we are 76% / 43% and about a month away from hitting 70% double dosed
Once again the elephant in the room: vaccination numbers do not take into account natural immunity from recovered infection. In NZ, that number is essentially zero. So in Europe 25% not vaccinated but many have already had Covid. I wish a journalist would ask Bloomfield and the like about that aspect.

Natural immunity appears to be a very important piece of the puzzle that doesn't seem to have been factored into NZs approach. Other countries are in a much better position to open up because of it.

I expect we can avoid a lot of the mortality that other countries have had if we get our vaxx rollout right. But we need to expect to all get covid19 in order to move forward, I don't think it is being communicated by Bloomfield, Ardern or the media
-
@no-quarter and I think Sweden is a good example, especially as a country that havent had a lock down at all (I believe) and were heavily criticsed early on for thier approach, obviously they have had alot of deaths, currently sitting at 57.5% fully vaccinated...circa 11% of the population have had Covid (assuming no double infected)

13 cases today, all in Auckland, hospitalisation, ICU and ventilator numbers have dropped.
250,000 Pfizer doses en route from Spain, should arrive in Auckland tomorrow morning, bigger deal in the works, hoping to announce shortly.
Vamos!

Cindy walking back from Hipkins comments about MIQ availability and the abandonment of the traffic light border scenario.
MIQ will stay as is and the comments about risk profiling applies to individual countries - the strategy has not changed.
Must have changed tack after reading responses on the Fern
-
I think the pathway to NZers being able to return more freely is still planning for fully vaccinated people being able to self-isolate rather than go into MIQ. The trial on this later this year is still planned to go ahead despite the latest Delta incursion, so that tells me the government is serious about that as the first stage of the plan.
