@duluth haha nope, maybe a double in a week as they used to do?

Hasnt this game been bought forward a day, so maybe done so to accomodate a mid-week game?

Yes. As posted in the general NPC thread:

The Southland-Northland National Provincial Championship game scheduled for Sunday in Invercargill will now be played a day earlier on Saturday.

Southland Stags coach Dale MacLeod said they were advised by New Zealand Rugby on Saturday of the change to the draw.

MacLeod said the shift would give Northland an extra day to get themselves sorted for a midweek game against Bay of Plenty the following week.

That Northland-Bay of Plenty was expected to play on Sunday (Oct 24), but was postponed given it was the same day as Bay of Plenty player Sean Wanui’s tangi.

So the midweek game between Northland and BOP seems to be next week (3-4 November).
I wouldn't be surprised if they move the Canterbury v BOP game from Saturday to Sunday.

You’d assume that would impact the Northland/HB friendly on the 6th

Cancelled or Northland sends a B team?

Have heard that is the more likely scenario...

We have an A team then?

    Northland side named:

    • Ross Wright, Jordan Olsen (C) Corey Te Whata-Colley
      Josh Goodhue, Sam Caird
Sam MacNamara, Tevita Faukafa, Kara Pryor
      Sam Nock, Dan Hawkins
      Tamati Tua, Rene Ranger
Jone Macilai, Rivez Reihana, Pisi Leilua

    • Bench
Mason Hohaia, Leka Tu'Ungafasi, Pasi Uluilakepa, Liam Hallam-Eames, Tom Robinson, Will Grant, Blake Hohaia, Jordan Hyland

Some interesting changes compared to the line up named for BOP given they didnt play last week...

@taniwharugby , they also asked Hawkes Bay to see if the scheduled fixture in the last round could be played in Whangarei given both unions will likely field B teams , Hawkes Bay declined sighting cost.

I assume that the Northland squad have been able to leave Tauranga?

@bovidae no idea where they are, would assume they would only head to Southland a day or so prior to match day so possibly still in Tauranga, I didnt realise Tauranga was locked down?

@taniwharugby Just saying that as Northland is back to L2 you might be able to move back home.

    Very strong team named.

I will not be surprised i f they can win the comp from here, as they realistically should be doing.

Will paper over the cracks of this coaching setup, but great for the team and the Province if they can pull it off.

again...is a shame really, on paper we have one of the strongest squads we have put together for years, yet there is definitely something missing, and some of the stuff you hear around the traps from a variety of sources is worrying.

Still, hearing some decent signings on the table for next season, just need the coaching team to up thier game.
