@nepia I’ll be waiting with my violin. (Even though I want Flanders to start).

At least the Canes have blockbusting up and coming winger Julian Savea.

My thoughts for what it’s worth..
Very unsure about Tosi as we don’t need another ball running prop we need a scrummager but oh well what do I know.

Was always going to get it but don’t think O’Reilly deserves a contract I’d rather they go after someone with more skill (or anyone else).

Happy with Delaney since we couldn’t get Plumtree, unsure about Sangster would rather we went after Caird.

Happy with TK Howden we definitely need so grunt in the loosies unsure about Tyler Laubscher haven’t really seen enough of him to make judgment.

As for Moorby I think we really missed a trick when we could’ve gone after Freedom Vahaakolo, Vereniki Tikoisolomone or even Liam Coombes-Fabling.

Tosi is a huge man. Under Owen Franks' tutelage, he will be able to learn how to scrum and become a real weapon.

@cgrant How likely is that though we’ve never really had a good right five so I’m not holding my breath, can see him not getting a contract next year as Frank’s will take his place.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the ACL injury is the end of his career. He was never particularly mobile - at his age, recovery from that would be a little rough. And he'd be, what, 36? To me, this has the potential to be an the first step for him to move into a coaching role. See if he can motivate these young guys to work hard and see if he can identify weaknesses in their scrummaging technique and fix them.

He has the body type you need for a modern-day 6 and is a good lineout option. So that means that Holland will persist with Prinsep. I'd rate Howden above Delany.

@mikey07 I wonder if big Tosi can become what Uhila was to the Canes in 2016. A big body who can do the job at scrum time and can bring some razzle up front.

A front row bench of Tevita Mafileo, Asafo Aumua and big Tosi could be pretty fun to watch.

I’m really happy with the signing of Howden, he really dominated physically during the NPC. With Ardie, Gibson, Iose and Flanders amongst our loose forwards it really is an area of strength for me. If we can do the job upfront then these guys will flourish.

@bovidae if play Delaney as a lock more then a 6 he reminds of Prinseep in a way sort of same body type just more height

I’d be really happy if he do turn into a Uhila type player we definitely need it as Numia and Fidow seem to more ball runners then scrummagers.

I’d love to see the likes of Iose Savea and Flanders run riot provided we get the parity up front.

@canes4life Prepare yourself for yet another season of mediocracy if you are happy with the squad assembled by the Hurricanes selectors.

Its an adequate squad. But never good enough to win the title. The Chiefs, Crusaders and Blues look much stronger. Its disappointing how the team has fallen behind after winning not that long ago. But at least we managed to hold onto key players like Savea and Barrett. Savea only resigned recently although I was always confident he would stay. Not so Barrett although he re-signed quite early thank goodness.

But hopefully the team will be good enough to beat the Aussie sides, the new teams and the Highlanders too. And they might even fluke a win over the top three NZ sides.

The best the team can hope for is 4th though

Prinsep will almost always start unless injured. Flanders was a bit disappointing this year. I wanted him to be VG and he wasn't.

It will be weird seeing an ex AB Wing with no chance of a recall playing Super Rugby given as a rule the rest finish their careers overseas.

Yeah Flanders has certainly been talked up and hasn't yet had the consistent opportunities. I did notice his body was prone to cramping or something towards the end of games. Hopefully he has a big year. He was pretty bloody good the times I saw him playing age grade for NZ.

Have heard that Blues Under 20 first five Jock McKenzie will be part of the Hurricanes wider training squad , something tells me he schooled down that way .

Nah, he is North Shore born and bred. He went to Westlake, but he's a Rosmini friend of a friend's nephew.
