At long last. Top idea in my view to try Jordie at 12.

Barrett at 12 and PUJ at 13. Yes please.

The only downside to having that midfield is we don’t have too many good options at fullback.

I remember Jordie played 12 for the Canes against a South African team in either 2019 or 2020 and got man of the match.

Yeah I reckon finding a good enough fullback will be the biggest hurdle.

I've heard Holland views Love as a fullback in the long term...

Funnily enough PUJ played at fullback throughout his U-20's.

There is Josh Moorby and Harry Godfrey (wtg) who are unproven. Wes Goosen also played at 15 this year aswell so we have options, just not experienced options in that position.

I’d expect to see Jordie start the year off at 15 and then potentially move to the midfield later on.

They are just plain idiots if they don't give him a run at 12

Gregor Paul made a fair case for it, from a Rugbypass article earlier this year:

**Could many birds be killed with one stone by shifting Barrett to No 12? The argument stacks up. The All Blacks want a physical specimen there. That’s a tick as Barrett is 1.96m and 105kg. He can run direct, angled-lines because he does this a lot for the Hurricanes when he often pops up as first-receiver.

He can use his height to get his hands free to work a good off-loading game and he can boot the ball the veritable country mile.**

"When I was at the under-20 level, I was playing 12 and I enjoyed it there, purely because it was more an extension from 10 where I played at school, and I was able to get physical and be a bit more involved in the middle of the park and get more touches," Barrett told The XV last year.

Is Jordie Barrett the fix to the All Blacks' problem position?

Is Jordie Barrett the fix to the All Blacks' problem position?

It may be a left-field move, but Jordie Barrett has all the skills needed for a shift back to the midfield.

@taniwharugby a seasoned, highly paid NZ sports journo would never get a players weight wrong

@mn5 Wikipedia has him at 96kg, saw him on Sunshine Coast at training session and he was around 95-96kg. He does have an ability to play more than one position which may happen to a few All Blacks next year. Will Jordan has been mentioned to play fullback, while David Havilli did well this year he was only meant to be a stop gap, would not be surprised to see him also have shift in position as he is also a great utility.

Leave him at fullback. He's had a breakout year in the position so moving him would be counter-productive. Will Jordan holding down 14 and Reece at 11 makes a really balanced back 3.

We've got some options at 12, all serviceable - ALB, Havili and Jack Goodhue in that order. Also we'll see how RTS will go in Super Rugby. I think the time to go all in with Reiko Ioane at 13 has come.

**Speaking on the latest episode of James Marshall’s What a Lad podcast, however, Barrett has confirmed that a positional change into the midfield is very much on the cards in the near future.

“I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t spent a few hours in this quarantine hotel thinking about my transition into 12 – something I might do at some stage, whether it’s this year or next year or further down the track,” Barrett said.

“I was a 12 growing up, [it was where I played] most of my footy. I feel like my skillset suits that. Who knows? I guess I’ve got the next month and a half to figure out which avenue I’ll go down but look, I’m happy with the way I’m going at 15 but got a serious eye to playing 12 at some stage so probably not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.”**

He's certainly big enough for it, if he beefed up more, he'd be great there. He's played played much every position for ABs outside nine, he has the skills to be a very good 12. Concentrate on it, would be ideal. But he'd have to start now to be good enough for next RWC

Interestingly, I heard on radio before France match Razor would've selected Jordie at 12, Will Jordan at 15.

He mentioned Jordie is a "natural 12" who can "kick off both feet" and a physical presence at 1.96m, 102kg.

I was interested in who Razor would pick as AB wings and now I am even more interested.

That's the sort of thinking the All Black's need. Razor isn't afraid to make innovative decisions to enhance the All Black's game. I've made my opinions noted on here that Barrett should have been 12 all along so I'm glad this is finally happening.

Let's hope Holland is willing to throw him in there for the Canes.

I think it’s easy to say you would select a) when you don’t make the decisions and it’s after the fact.

(Not an advocating for Fozzie post.)

And how was Robertson going to fit Havili and Bridge into his backline outside Mo'unga? 😉

NMS joining the Canes for 6 weeks as training fodder while the ABs aren't available.
