Some very good offloads and hands in that play. Good shit after 40 minutes of sleepy rugby.

Piss poor hands from McKenzie that led to that Rebels try.

My favourite bit was the Rebels giving their own player a very vocal serve at the end there for kicking it away.

Haha

I am glad he got a spray - the kick was mystifying.

Lots of mystifying plays by the Rebels tonight all around though. They will be well served to watch the game on replay (which I assume they do with all games) and discuss each decision at length.

E.g. the Rebels number 7 doing chip kicks in the red zone on two seperate occassions.

Other players forcing passes instead of taking the tackle and recycling.

Have to say I thought Weber was fantastic. Passing a bit wayward at times when firing to the typical 10 position but otherwise really key in just keeping the plays going with remarkable speed and decision making.

Seu must be in AB selectors thoughts.

I like Weber in a big way and have his pic for my avatar. Last season he made some waves but he didn't know himself and would seem to listen too much to criticism, and would watch other halfbacks and feel he should be playing like them.

This year he seems to know his game and to have carved out a consistent style of play.

He isn't as good as Aaron Smith by any stretch - but he is in the mix for the back up position. A few people on here don't like his service to the 1st 5 in terms of accuracy. But he gets it away fast from the base and gives his 1st receiver an extra half second to play with.

Needs to add a reliable box kick. Did do a decent one tonight but that aspect is probably still under the label of "developing".

I'm a fan of Weber but the accuracy of his passing needs a lot of work. Getting the ball out of the ruck super quickly is awesome when the Chiefs are constantly getting over the gain line but when they're up against a good defence, the extra half second Cruden spends reeling in his passes just gives the defence that extra half second to move up or reposition.

Not having TKB as the other option (starting or on the bench) has really hurt the Chiefs the last few weeks IMO.

Good points

Other notes about him

Has the best dive pass in New Zealand

Reads the game effectively

Doesn't fuck around endlessly with the ball at the base of a ruck marshalling the troops and thinking I can sit here all day according to the laws of the game so I will take my sweet time (meanwhile the defence re-organises or even counter rucks and suddenly the presentation of the pill gets messy)

Isn't annoyingly yappy.

Very well said , his accuracy is very poor. He really does throw a lot of pies....if he tidies this up then he may be considered for higher honours
