I'm not at all interested in the winter Olympics. Maybe I should pay a little more attention....

I've never heard of this girl before. But if her intention is to help drive change in China, I would suggest she would be better off staying with the USA. As a woman of chinese descent they will go crazy over her anyway. And that way she could have spoken her mind on any subject without fear. A curious decision but she is off to Stanford to study soon so she seems smart. So what do I know

Olympics freeski star Eileen Gu's delicate balancing act between China and the U.S.

Eileen Gu, who is expected to win three gold medals in Beijing, chose to represent China instead of the U.S. when she was 15.

@canefan surfing is a winter olympics sport? Down the luge track - or off the ski jump?

    there are some cool sports

    Downhill skiing
    Cross country skiing
    Biathlon

Plus heaps of the include lots of danger. In many ways its better than the summer olympics. I normally watch a fair bit, but the Aus coverage does my fucking head in even more than the summer.

Fuuuuuuuck you Hamish McClaughlin you fucking piston wristed gibbon.

Speed skating can be a good watch. The likelihood of someone slipping and taking everyone out is high.

Many of the freestyle sports have been ruined by becoming olympic events as predicted. Too prescribed in order to have a consistent judging set up now when pre-olympic days it was about progression and style. I will be watching the ski halfpipe though. That's a good spectator sport.

Downhill skiing for the speed and danger.

Another sport ruined by the olympics is snowboard cross. It used to be a great fun watch more like demolition derby on boards.Tamed down now and not as exciting.

Bobsleigh and luge can be good depending on how wicked the track is. We went down the Innsbruck course in a four man bob one night and it was scary as all fuck. Highly recommended.

    Downhill ski is brilliant

The sheer skill combined with nerves and balls of steel is fantastic watching because fuck those chicks are hot.

Unfortunately NHL players won't be attending.

The 2010 Ice Hockey in Vancouver was awesome.

Of course the 1980 'Miracle On Ice' USA vs USSR didn't require NHL players.

Fantastic race on the 3,000m women's speedskating, with Irene Schouten from the Netherlands winning gold and setting a new Olympic Record 3:56:93 (was 3:57.70 set by Claudia Pechstein from Germany in 2002).

The curling has been a good watch. Really impressed by the skill in accuracy.
I thinks it’s more entertaining by being mixed doubles. The player dynamics are fun to watch (usually the woman bossing the man around)
Caught some commentary where they said it’s quite common for them to be actual couples. In the case of the Swiss team, exes.

Zoi's dad had obviously had some celebratory drinks as he dropped a couple of f-bombs in a live TV interview. Great stuff!
