Brilliant start by MP but with a few changes to be made in the 2nd half (Mo'unga etc) the Saders will still run away with this.

@chris They're holding their own, getting bettered yes, but doing enough on their own scrum.

Great half from Moana Pasifika. Yes, they'll most likely go on to lose and probably heavily, but they've shown enough in that half to suggest there's something to work with and have shown great heart on defence. Few dodgy Crusaders passes that haven't been called as well.

A good example of how a team like the Saders get leeway bias from the ref.
Lesser skilled teams get watched closer for mistakes.
Just makes them even harder to overcome

Newell and Bower are eating the MP props at scrum time .

Same thing happened in MP preseason game vs Chiefs.

    The Chiefs WTG props.

I like the aggression in the tackle by MP. Time-Stowers is doing good work off the back of the scrum. Aumua looking strong too.

That’s a half that MP should be extremely proud of ..I think a few people on this forum are missing a trick here ..this is a team made of many players who would probably struggle to make NZ wider training squads ..they are showing more heart than than the Fiji Drua in my opinion ..so much defensive will definitely tell in the 2nd half ..just for the record folks ,have look back at the Saders first year in 1996 ..and they had the pick of best 150 players in NZ ..not 180-210

I dunno that people are that down on MP, just realistic that they are likely to get smashed for a couple of years until they can get in (and develop) better talent. Edit: And happy for them that they were that competitive.

Some players did really well in that half.

BS we are the most penalised team in SR by some distance that’s an excuse when other teams can’t beat the Crusaders.
We were robbed lol maybe get better.

    Fiji Drua

I think part of thier problem seems they want to play attractive 7s like rugby, some of thier decisions making was awful in 15s and what you'd expect on a 7s field.

@gt12 absolutely,I get that it’s gonna take a good couple of years for the talent they have available regardless of this Saders team looks like ..they are showing some real heart and that’s with an official that’s has missed at least 3 forward passes and a knock on

You’re the most penalised team because you use negative tactics to shut down other teams attacks.
What I am talking about is marginal calls on things like forward passes going your way. I m not claiming a conspiracy just human nature from refs thinking “nah, they’re more skilled and drilled than that, it will be finely judged”
Tell me you didn’t see a number of uncalled FPs in that half.
