Rebels v Chiefs

TBF, once that ball got to the left side in that final play every Chiefs player hit the ball up well, Ioane was running like he thought he was the size of the dudes in the Blues with the same last name.
Maybe fatigue played a part but I always wonder why teams can't play like that from the start. The way the Reds played in parts as the same. I guess that what's makes the great teams, they can put together more phases like that.

Well done to the Chiefs , made hard work of what should have been comfortable win ..
Enjoyed that 3 of the 5 games against Aussie teams which were tight contests
And even though the Reds got well beaten they showed they capable of scoring tries ..
Defence is a massive work on however for these Aussie teams .. -
So it’s looking like a Chiefs vs Canes quarter in Hamilton aslong as both teams win their remaining games.
-
@Stargazer What was wrong with the game? A good close game that went down to the wire, am I missing something?

Stan interviewing Ah Kuoi about music. He's a pretty funny dude.
He's certainly not introverted.

The quality was pretty poor to be fair, lots of errors, limited flow and just wasn't that enjoyable to watch. The last 5 minutes was more interesting than the prior 75 put together.

Decent teams

@taniwharugby I think I am more frustrated than anything, the Chiefs have loads of potential but for whatever reason are their own worst enemy. I must admit ST, Lord, Ah Kuoi and QT impressed. 10 continues to be an issue, JI has some sublime attacking skills but his line kicking and option taking is poor at times. Gatland has been just as bad. I do hope they get it together come finals time as they are likely to have a home semi.

JI has moments where I can see why he was an AB then nek minnut he does something incredibly sloppy. Besides his obvious passing flops, his kick offs are often terrible and today was no exception. A very frustrating player because the basic ingredients are there for him to be a top tier 10. It's almost as though he is not always there mentally.

Josh Ioane was real bad, he did some of the dumbest things that almost seemed to be trying assist Rebels!

Cripple fight…

Just watched the game then read the thread. Really struggle with a lot of the ott comments with so many proven wrong quickly. Hope the players do not read them..
Thought I saw one player make errors that cost 21 points and kill two likely tries. But he did add plenty of needed attacking flair and was just back after a long break, so not all gloomy. The Chief coaches have plenty of work to do to address the repeat errors though.
Tiatia was pretty useful filling in out of position at late notice. Not sure why he cops it.
Hodge and Kellaway are quite a threat and were well contained by Chiefs.
I was surprised the ref let players keep diving clean over the top of the tackled player. After the first 18 minutes of that happening I thought the Chiefs looked the better team. But none of the commentary sees it that way.
I thought the Chiefs kept the Rebels in it with regular errors made of complacency. Just wonder how I can be so very wrong.
I do agree though that Chiefs are not contenders if they can't solve the issues at 10 and 15 quickly. -
@ACT-Crusader atleast we beat the Tahs. 😂

I haven't read the thread yet but the Chiefs gifted the Rebels their 3 tries. Ioane was their best player.
The backline still looks disjointed, not helped by McMillan rotating too many players in and out, and not settling on a preferred back three. He needs to do that against the Force and Drua.
The positives were Ah Kuoi having his best game this season, and the continued development of the young locks. Throw in BBBR next week and things are looking up.
In fairness, Ioane did some good things too, but like Weber, looked like someone who hadn't played in weeks. Ratima needs to be the bench halfback from here on.
