Just got back from game. Was one of the better ones I've seen at Suncorp. It seemed that Aus were killing them in the backs but that England were better in the forwards. England also played much much smarter rugby. The 2nd test should be a cracker.<br><br>
Obviously I dislike the guy so take this with a grain of salt, but I was surprised at how little Pocock actually does. He spends a shit load of time hanging round the midfield running interference, but doesn't do much else. Obviously his principal skill is of massive value, but if he's stopped from pilfering he's a bit of a passenger. -

Fardy was off his game huh, gave away a few pens just by being dumb, he's usually a bit smarter at the breakdown. -

A win in Aus for us is rare and to put more points on them than the 2003 team is great too. However at no time did I feel comfortable until we got the turnover in the last minute. The try after that was just window dressing. Aus looked so bloody dangerous and every time Folau got the ball in anything that looked like space I was thinking about how to empty my colostomy bag.<br><br>
A big call from Mr Percentage to take of Burrell but our defensive pattern looked better straight away.<br><br>

The forwards really fronted for England. Was actually good to watch. Haskell's best game in white IMO. <br><br>
There were as predicted, issues with the attack. Limited opportunities to put Yarde in space. But I did like that they tried to keep the ball alive more. Hopefully it is a sign of things to come under Steady. <br><br><br>

<p>It's going to be a great series. England bashed us up in the middle 40 minutes and dictated the pace of the game. It was great to watch.</p>

<p>That's my understanding. Harsh on Burrell who rarely lets us down but I'm just not so sure he fits in with what Jones is after. I also like the idea of two playmakers. Whether that is to be Ford and Farrell or not Im not sure.</p> -

did not see the game and obviously he kicks and tackles but is Farrell really a playmaker? perhaps he learnt sonething from the RWC,,<br>
nb love the Eddie mindgame comments prematch that his old buddy Cheika is world's best coach! -
<p>Farrell has been a cool, calm head at 10. Less so in contact but his play has mostly been controlled. He has always been a good kicker from hand and tee and also pretty unflappable. Sure he gets schizoid now and agin but the next minute he's mister control. His game control has been good and improving all the while, it was always his ability to set the back line alight and/or be a running threat himself that was suss. Over the last year and a bit he's been improving the last two aspects of his game very well. He's never going to be a natural but he won't be found wanting for lack of work ethic. At present he is our best option at 10 and a bloody good option at that. For choice I'd take an in form Cipriani or Ford over an in form Farrell but he is always in form. They are not.</p>

Australia looked a bit off their game though, I still pick them to win the series once they get going. Having a goal kicker like Farrell is so crucial. A rare off night for Foley certainly didn't help.</p> -
