I can’t accept that as a one hit wonder when he sung “ Stuck in the Middle with you” ( admittedly with different band members )
We've had this discussion before. "Right Down the Line" is also a popular GR song on the same album as "Baker Street".
Except it wasn’t a hit.
Baker Street never made no.1, while this song was no.1 in one of the Billboard charts.
I had to look that up. The “Adult Contemporary “ chart.
That’s weak. -

Upgraded the music system with a new streamer - huge difference. This came up. Awesome production.

@MN5 Leaving aside the fact that they had a gazillion hits in the Netherlands and elsewhere you are ignoring
which was actually there biggest hit reaching the Billboard Top 10 in the early 80's
I was living in southern NL at the time. It was incessant.

I stand corrected…….sort of…….
Google confirms these guys have been prolific but ask your average person on the street to name a second song of theirs and they’ll very likely stare blankly.

I'd have struggled on the first tbh

Really ? It’s a song that everyone knows I would have thought even if they don’t know the name of the band.

The average person on the street probably doesn't even know that Golden Earring sang Radar Love. I hear Twilight Zone on the radio occasionally but it sounds like a completely different band, and a song of its time.
I remember this vividly one a trip to the tip with the old man, great memories of something coming on the radio ( Radio Windy I think it was back then ) and him seeing if I knew who sang it. He told me these guys were Dutch which blew my mind as I though any decent band was either British or American.

It really isn't one that ever stuck in my consciousness. I just went and read about it to work out what the story was. Seems that when I was about 9 it was just among the top 100 songs of the year with a fleeting appearance at top 10.
Seems, however that it had a resurgence in popularity through covers and recognition in rock circles in the 80s and 90s (not really in my music sphere). Almost a cult thing rather than crossover popularity. You can see why. It would have a lot of respect musically among those circles.
I recognise the song but wouldn't have recalled it off the cuff.

Some recommended this to me. Pretty good.

It was me. You’re welcome. Such nice variety, best track is ‘Days gone by’ I reckon

Live albums always sound better for some reason.

@MN5 I like that but also like midnight moody’s, happy ways, meadows and daydream. I like that classic organ in days gone by.
Also nothing beats a good flute solo when done right as well !
