Lewis Clareburt wins his heat to progress safely through to 400m individual medley final
What a time he swum in the final.
At the rate he is improving he must have his eyes set on Paris 2024.

@SBW1 actually quite amazing how many medals we've won so far.
Still loves the Comm Games.
I mean I remember when I rode my dinosaur to actually go to the 1990 Comm games (caught a glimpse of Graeme Millar on his way to gold in the road race somewhere near Avondale ... and at the stadium saw Linford Christie (coughdrugcheat) run sub 10 to win the hundy and that Welsh guy Colin something win the hurdles ... ), and watched the '74 games on the very first colour TV in Kaeo (Dick Tayler winning the 10 Thou, and the 1500 where the bronze medalist EQUALLED the world record, and silver medalist John Walker became my hero for life
.. for 10 years anyway ... )).But I digress ...
Huge medal tally to date ...

Good to watch the replays of the track cycling. Andrews and Botha were very impressive in their races. It was great to see Genest look beaten before the 3rd race of the QF. Both have huge futures.
Gate is a machine. He starts off slow but then gets up to top speed and never lets up in the back-half of the race.

Another item into the pedant alert file

She doesn’t care about the medal, probably would have felt embarrassed to collect it but a fine and points? UCI or CG probably set the program to try and avoid clashes but to have no understanding that they may occur is just overly officious. Sports are for the athletes FFS not the jobsworths.
-
@Crucial Really hope she gets her medal, hopefully there is some kind of appeal. New Zealand now have 10 Gold and are Number 3, only being edged out by England with one more Gold. New Zealand did pretty well in the pool last night, must have given the Aussies a run for their money, really good effort by our swimmers. Have a good feeling we might overtake our previous best tally of 17 Gold and hoping we can overtake England,

Goodness just imagine how many medals our cyclists might have in the bank if the culture in their programme was not toxic!
alternatively.. amazing how their 'medals over wellness' culture that was so criticised in the enquiry is paying MASSIVE dividends! ha.

media beatup.. no clash 55 mins in a track meet is an eternity plenty of time to get from a podium presso to start prep. Sprinters spent 95% of their time laying on the ground probs just didn't want to stand up.
No doubt just didn't want to be a part of the ceremony as she literally did nothing other than line up on the start line then stop straight away after the start.
fine not really warranted but is what it is.. -
outstanding crash last night. farking good effort to end up in the crowd! never seen that before
-
@WillieTheWaiter I would like to know what the guy third from the left smoked earlier, everyone in clear state of panic and he has barely flinched

Just a wee bit tone deaf considering some of the impacts of the culture on some?
I get that it didn't mean that everyone felt the same way. Not everyone does. But it's H&S surely. Not everyone falls down the lift shaft but that doesn't mean a barrier and sign shouldn't be put up.
Great job by the athletes and coaches that have come through but I'm sure they would also rather that others were still around to share the success.

Good wallriding skills by the Canadian. His wall dismount wasn't as awesome, sadly.

Old mate on the second right in the red t shirt is putting up the T Rex arms in utter terror. What a contrast of emotions.

Watched a bit of the 3x3 Bball.
In the Men’s we lost to England and Oz, but did beat Trinidad & Tobago.
We go through to the QF against Canada tonight.
Our 4 are all in the NZBL. I only recognised two of the players - Kelman-Poto and Tai Wynyard because they were both Breakers development players at one point.
For the Women we qualified straight to the semi’s by beating England in a close one pointer, then beating Canada and Virgin Islands easy. We await the winner of England and Kenya.
I like our womens team - Kelani Purcell is a gun in 3-on-3, the veteran Jilian Harmon who has been around the national team for a while, Tiarna Clarke who can shoot lights out, and Ella Fotu from the Fotu clan of ballers.
-
@ACT-Crusader Wynyard got recruited by University of Kentucky, which should have been huge for him - but, something really weird went down there - supposedly had an armed bodyguard.
You probably know all this.
-
@Chris-B yeah, there was high hopes for Tai but a mix of injuries and not fitting in the rotation - then the off-court stuff (more to that than has been reported) made his time at Kentucky a bit of a disaster.
Was good to see him in action as I don’t get to see much NZBL other than some YouTube clips.

@ACT-Crusader This article was from a few months back. More about his redemption than what happened in Kentucky, but worth a read.
