I was channel surfing and came back to hear Bridge scored. I thought to myself “bet it was a clear run in”. Not quite clear but didn’t have to beat anyone in the field of play.

Surely the refs can be a higher standard than this. Already players constantly over the ball with their hands on the ground not holding their weight. Basic stuff that should be easy to ref correctly.
Waenga has been around for ages and never progressed beyond NPC. At least there is some form of quality control
Edit: while the assessors we’re watching Dan, Pickerell slipped through. -

He started officiating mid-way 2017 and was for the first time selected for the 2019 National Referee squad.
Ok. I just seem to remember him being around for a while.
I remember Pickerell seemingly since he left school but then he still looks like that and hasn’t improved much.
Maybe my hopes for referee quality were optimistic -
