Well there is more.....
While engaging in some late night...activity, I started feeling weird around the chest and very light-headed. English crossfitter insisted that she drive me to the ER. Had all the scans, tests etc and I was actually very badly dehydrated. Needed 2 bags of IV fluid! It was rather embarrassing explaining to the medical staff what I was doing when the pain occurred 🤣.
Anyway, thankfully heart is in tip top shape. Added bonus is that English crossfitter was amazing during all of it. Early days but the signs are very good.
In terms of training this week, I haven't done anything. Can't run with my injured shin. Plan is to get back into it tomorrow with lots of swim and gym.
As if. They probably gave you a high five !
look after yourself pal, DON’t OVERTRAIN !!!!
This wasn't my fault Mate. The fůcking adventure race was supposed to be for 12 hours not 25!!!!

thanks TR, I used your advice and I got in touch with a stretching expert and have a basic recovery and stretching program sketched out. I'll dial back the hill and speedwork sessions for a few days, keep doing zone 2 and add a better stretching routine.
at the moment I am trying to recover by using pool jacuzzi, massaging the scar tissue, gentle stretching.two links:
Wow, she's awesome

Progress report: have now completed two zone 2 runs (60-70% of my max HB) of 80 and 60 minutes, and followed each with gentle leg stretches while in jacuzzi. And massaged the tear spot, which now doesn't feel hard or swollen. I didn't stretch that area much, but will gradually increase the pressure.
I'm moving the rest to my old thread, thanks RS, sorry to clog up your thread.

All good Mate. You add more interesting content than me! Definitely opened my eyes up to other possibilities.

Getting back on track after that ludicrous Adventure Race. Still can't run but can now swim a fair bit without the pull buoy. Touch wood, but no pain today. Hopefully good to go next week. Definitely haven't missed the running but haven't had a decent leg day in a while.

Shin healed very quickly and was able to get back into running on Wednesday. Took it pretty easy but no issues. First swimming session today going full pelt with legs and again no issue. Thrashed out the haematoma in half the time!
New relationship is going great but taking its toll on my time and sleep. Shouldn't really complain though. I'm very lucky to have found her.

Sheesh, she's the lucky one mate. It's not every day a bird stumbles across a middle-aged bloke who spends half his day on the Fern arguing with random dudes
on the internet, then the other half thrashing himself in the pool or doing ultra-endurance races that nearly kill him.If she is still around after one of your eating cheat days, you've probably got yourself a keeper.

Being on the fern is an absolute magnet for quality poon tang.

16 days!!!! This section of the forum is on life support. Hopefully people are more active than their accounts!
Been trying to find the right balance in recent weeks. New relationship has meant less of an obsessive focus on exercise but it's still important. Also had a couple of stupid Saturdays in terms of overindulgence. For example, I had a massive hankering for granola and ate 4 bowls. That was in addition to all the other shit. Bloats me like a farking puffer fish.
But yeah, hoping to get the balance and routines back in order. Swimming has been phenomenal recently and want to keep up the momentum on that.

Can confirm. I’ll try and think of something exciting to write in my thread.

Been a while again.
Keeping on keeping on. Probably need to recalibrate a bit. New relationship and er sleeping habits have changed routines somewhat and diet has been a bit hit and miss. Bodyfat % at 6.6 so I need to eat more on training days and have less binging. New gf has been good with this and moving forward I'm going to try a few things to see what's optimal. One thing for sure is that despite being in a much better place mentally I'm loving the training. Looks like it's a part of me now which is good. Just have to fuel it better.

6 point fucking 6 percent! No more sniffing pies for you brah!
I think you have plenty of scope to increase the eats and throw in some treats lol
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel not sure Bodyfat and 6.6% should even be put together...anything under 10% doesnt count!
I'm stoked to get under 20%!

Ironically I had 4 beers the same day I had that test! Was the Ritchie McCaw event. So probably 7.6% now.
Ritchie looking in great shape btw. Definitely not looking to copy Brendan Llaney.

From what I’ve seen he looks more triathlete than Rugby player.
Possibly fitter than in his playing days but not sure I’d back him to take down a rampaging Billy Vunipola like back in the day.
If you gain over 1% of body fat with four beers I must be over 100% by now !!!!!

A fair bit happened the past couple of days. The ex finally left my house and I started the move back with my youngest. I'd been living with my parents for almost 4 months. Obviously delighted and relieved to be moving back but the breakup and everything associated with it has left me so sad. When picking up the key, my ex told me that she was sorry for everything, that she had made major changes and that I was "the one" for her. I have to say that has fairly fůcked me up. Her pain, regret and sadness were so hard to witness. I feel so sorry for her despite all of this having been self-inflicted and me having been hurt so badly. It would almost be better if it was acrimonious. I was absolutely committed to seeing that relationship through to the end. Such a waste. Am really optimistic about the future but goddam this is hanging over me. I really hope she meets someone else and moves on, but it's more likely she'll get hurt in the sewer that is online dating. Wish I didn't care but I do. Why are people so blind and only act when it's far too late?
Anyway, training vital to keeping the blues away but am enjoying it. Running is much more pleasant now that I'm not training for a marathon! So body great, but mind not so much.....

Women are all mental pal, it just depends to what degree. Whilst there are some I’ll look back on and thank my lucky stars I’m not involved with in any shape or form there’s still some that make me sad when I think of them.

Am together with a crossfitter now so gave a class a go last week. While I really like the interval training/transition aspect of crossfit, I'm no fan of lifting a bar above the head while fatigued. Still, it encouraged me to get out of comfort zone and try new things. Made me want to work on things like front squat. Been phoning legs in for a while so time to change things up.
Saw Iron Man for the first time this weekend. It's actually not bad. I realised that RD Jr was exactly my age when they filmed it. While he's obviously a recovering drug maniac, he did have the Hollywood machine behind him to get fit for that role. GF commented that I'm in considerably better shape than him. That made my decade. I like this one....
