I think the key SWU explanation in that episode was how the start of the rebellion actually goaded the Empire into showing its true colours and intentions. Instead of just being seen as hardline governers with security forces they are now seen by all as oppressors.
That will bring the likes of Andor fully onside to supporting insurgence and increase the underlying population support.

    ##spoiler
I also like how the presence of a single trooper ( he had his mates nearby but still…..) can create tension as opposed to Boba/Mando/Fenwick or whoever mowing down 20 of them.

Also cool to see the Star Destroyer flying overhead and marvelling at how massive it was.

The Rise of Skywalker was a bit ridiculous with a horde of those much, much bigger Star Destroyers. The originals shouldn’t have been tampered with in my opinion apart from DVs massive one in TESB.

I won't spoiler this as it doesn't spoil any plot points.
A couple of things that may be coming although this show seems to be avoiding obvious links to other stories.

    • that Star Destroyer we saw may be our first sighting of the Chimaera (Thrawn's flagship) before Thrawn was a Grand Admiral.
    • you would think that we should see an appearance of Bail Organa at some stage (and, if on Alderan then maybe the droids and Leia in the background

How old would Leia be at this stage? If it's 5 years before Rogue One and her age was the same as Carrie Fishers when she played the role then she'd be early teens? Eek, they might just use that same actress who look sway younger than she is again.

14-15 or so. I don’t think they’ll shoehorn her into another show though.

I’d love to see some Moff Tarkin in one form or another. Awesome bad guy.

I’ll watch again but pretty sure that was just a bog standard Star Destroyer. They look heaps more impressive lower to the ground next to trees, birds etc rather than the emptiness of space.

God bless whichever nerd did this pic.

I agree that a Leia appearance would be an unnecessary token but Organa needs to appear in this series or the next if they continue the Mon Mothma storyline.

Same guy according to nerds on FB…..served on the Death Star

In Andor as it is at the moment I’m fairly sure it’s still a few years off completion ?

It’s Star Wars version of Transmission Gully !!

@Crucial looks to me like all the rest.

After being very critical of this show ( thanks to all for bearing with me, or ignoring me whatever suited 😉 ) I’m actually keen to see what antics happen in “Space Miami”( as opposed to “Space Scotland” ). Assuming K2SO breaks him out of jail ?

What a catchy piece of music too.

    Definitely the catchiest since this…..

Just caught up, really enjoying it…to the point it’s making BoBF look even worse…just cheaply made and unnecessary the story was

    ##spoiler
It’s not exactly what I thought it would be, I thought andor said he had spent his whole life fighting, I took that as he’d been in the resistance his whole life but they’re really doing quite a good job of showing how he got to where we met him in rouge one

He had a taste of the fact there are those out there fighting…then he went away to get his end wet and piss his take up against a wall…and suddenly got a taste of how shit the empire can be

Think I need to watch rouge one again

    @Kiwiwomble

Rogue One is awesome, perhaps part of that is because we know that Andor himself ( as the story shows ) is just kind of….ordinary ? I mean he

    ##spoiler
Struggled quite a bit with some random guard in the episode prior to this……
    ##endspoiler

    Then a…..

    ##spoiler
Single shore trooper ( with a bit of help ) had no trouble sorting him out
    ##endspoiler

I’ve got no doubt that the Ahsoka show will be YET ANOTHER strong female character dealing to all sorts of overwhelming odds in a ridiculous manner ( she obviously had other plans otherwise she would have joined Mandos harem to rescue Grogu ) so we should probably enjoy this one while we can.

I agree with your Boba Fett assessment. I loved the Star Warsness of it all but it was let down by quite a bit overall.

Yep, Filoni and Favarau really shat the bed on that. Despite the fact some fans loved the episodes, Mando shouldn't have been shoehorned in - there actually could have been a good focussed Boba Fett story in there but they appeared to not give a shit about it.

As I've not seen the Clone Wars I can't comment but fans of Filoni claim he did some great gritty stuff in that show so it's not like he can't do it.

Remember that Ahsoka always has been that character you describe. She was Anakin's apprentice and has given Vader a good run for his money in a fight. She's a 'grey jedi' in that she isn't bound to the jedi ways but has force abilities which makes her even stronger as she can dip into the dark side a bit but control it.

We need her show to introduce Thrawn, which I am really looking forward to.

    Yeah just

    ##spoiler
strangely paced aye ? Would have made more sense if we saw him land, acquaint himself etc.

Minor criticism though, this show is genuinely getting better and better.

Does anyone reckon the droid that has him round the throat is K2SO or not ?

probably the latter as there looks to be a few of them there. They’re pretty strong and ruthless. A definite upgrade from the battle droids in the republic days.

Well he's about to go into an imperial prison as has to get out somehow. K2SO was a security droid that was reprogrammed. Maybe this next stanza shows that or how they link up.

im playing "Knights of the old Republic II" and i am still baffled why Disney just keeps jamming stories into the same 50ish year period

these stories are semi canon (reference to Reven in the sequels and remaking KotOR next year) so it shows the skywalker "saga" isn't even the "biggest" event in the star wars universe

These two games would make awesome movies with genuine twists and unique characters

    So…..

    ##spoiler

Bit of a ho hum episode after last week.

Yes, the prison is a nasty place, we get it, while pretty well done I don’t think we needed a whole episode on it.

The security looks outstanding though, I wonder how he breaks out ?

You really don't seem to like the building the story episodes? I like them, it doesn't have to be pew pew every week for me. 😉

I know that Saw Gerrera is a cool character to cartoon watchers but he was such a dumb shit in Rogue One when he chose to die for no good reason that my care factor for him is pretty low.
