watched District 9 last night..

after reading the good reviews on it, I am not sure what I was expecting, but what I got, was certainly not anywhere near what I was expecting...that said, I still enjoyed it.

Left wide open for a sequel...even a prequel
Homicide - David Mamet film. A little bit disappointing (dialogue not as good as expected, plot a little simple/uneventful), but interesting to think about after. 7/10

The Getaway - Sam Peckinpah/Walter Hill adaption of the Jim Thompson book. Rather different than the book. Well shot etc, a little dull. 7/10
I actually liked the remake of this starring a much slimmer Alec Baldwin, a still sexy Kim Basinger and the vastly underrated tough guy Michael Madseon....very entertaining.

    not what I got...

[spoiler:19k69wmr]a kind of mocumentary is not what I was expecting.

it just wasnt what i was expectin, still liked it, and I guess the underlying tones of SA's past of racism was the main part of it, even to a degree the Southern American segregation[/spoiler:19k69wmr]

    Jennifers Body

Megan Fox lezzes up & goes demonic. I was expecting it to be utterly shit, but it was actually watchable. Needed to be a lot scarier, sort of falls between funny (intentionally) & scary, but not enough of either. The good joke lines sort of get lost a bit. And theres no hooters. Not even side-boob.

Think its got slagged a bit cause everyone is expecting Juno 2, and because people have sort of had enough of Fox.

Probably one to pick up on DVD when it gets in the bargain bin, or watch on Sky in a year

6/10

I've actually been noticing Lawless' accent on BSG, it's mixed but very Kiwi.

Mogwai: I don't know how anyone could think Jennifer's Body could be anything like Juno going by the shorts.

Lucy was barely noticable, only a small role inthis film, but Bell's was very strong.

I think people expected the wittiness of juno because Diablo Cody penned both...

I have just seen what I think has been the best movie of the year so far. The Hurt Locker. Kicks. Fucking. Arse.

Hard to believe its a women director. Not that a women can't direct a war movie, just they don't usually.

She is James Cameron's ex though.

Have you seen 'Generation Kill' Razbra? The Hurt Locker has the same feel to me as the TV show - which is all good.

Bro, you need to watch Generation Kill ASAP! It's a 7 part HBO series.

Hi CJ - did you watch at at the movies or on DVD (or a pireted version off the internet <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> ) just that of the not so glowing reviews I've heard about D9 have been from people that hadn't seen it on the big screen, just wondering if something of the effect of the movie gets lost in translation??

Saw a bloody good thriller starring the ever awesome Samuel L Jackson as the kind of cop who would suck to have as a neigbour, "Lakeview terrace".....he sure isn't happy that the black woman who has just moved in isn't married to a "brother".....

SLJ is hilariously loud as always but also seriously menacing at the same time.
TR Jnr liked, it, I thought it was pretty average for akids flick, even directed by Mr. Bruckheimer

was between that, and Up, sadly due to him getting a Guinea Pig for his birthday, G-Force won, as I have heard Up is superb.
